TITLE: DISTRICT LEAD CUSTODIAN
DEPARTMENT: Facilities
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Possess or have the ability to obtain a valid Arizona Identity Verified Prints (IVP) Fingerprint Clearance Card within forty-five (45) days of employment.
- At least Six years of successful verified custodial experience.
- Any combination equivalent to training and experience that could likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities would be qualifying.
JOB GOALS:
The District Lead Custodian (DLC) sets standards of cleanliness for all facilities across the District. The DLC acts as lead custodian for their site where applicable. DLC trains and supervises the work of all other lead custodians.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following tasks are essential for this position. This list is not inclusive of all responsibilities. Individuals may not perform all of these tasks, or may perform similar related tasks not listed.
- Complies with all HIPAA and FERPA related confidentiality requirements.
- Develops positive relations with students, parents, school staff and the public.
- Ensures the quality of custodial work performed by other lead custodians at the site, and reports directly to the Director of Facilities.
- Participates in the evaluation of site custodians.
- Evaluates Lead custodians.
- Performs daily cleaning and minor repairs to campus facilities.
- Cleans a variety of building surfaces and furniture.
- Plans and directs the maintenance of campus grounds area(s) as designated.
- JRE - interior, playground, rose garden, front adjacent ways
- PES - areas adjacent to school and immediate playground area
- PHS - interior and adjacent area of main office
- RCMS - interior and central area east of front office
- Checks buildings for vandalism and corrects if possible prior to staff and student’s arrival on campus.
- Audits all sites for adherence to established standards.
- Provides oversight in supply inventory management, and use of all custodial supplies.
- Checks restrooms for needed supplies and cleanliness.
- Directs Custodial Team to perform snow removal when necessary.
- Empties and cleans waste receptacles as appropriate.
- Sweeps sidewalks and picks up papers and debris.
- Reports major damage and repair work to the Director of Facilities and Principal.
- Sets up and takes down furniture when necessary.
- Oversees ordering and use of cleaning agents, supplies, equipment, etc., for the District.
- Assesses training needs and coordinates all necessary custodial training sessions.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY:
Knowledge of:
- Extensive knowledge of methods, materials and equipment used in cleaning and maintaining various types of building surfaces, items of furniture and equipment.
- Written and oral English.
Skill and Ability to:
- Work cooperatively with others and provide a high level of customer service.
- Create effective relationships with District Staff and community.
- Work in a higher pressure environment.
- Maintain schedules for performing assigned tasks.
- Understand written and oral instructions.
- Knowledge in the use of a variety of cleaning materials and equipment.
- Perform minor maintenance when necessary.

- Requires vision (which may be corrected) to read small print.
- Requires the mobility to stand, stoop, reach and bend. Require mobility of arms to reach and dexterity of hands to grasp and manipulate small objects.
- Requires the ability to stand for long periods.
- Requires the ability to walk long distances.
- Perform work which involves the frequent lifting, pushing and/or pulling of objects which may approximate 50 pounds and may occasionally weigh up to 100 pounds.
- May be required to work with harsh and toxic substances.
- May be required to work around foul odors.
- Is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions.
REPORTS TO: Director of Facilities
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually by the Director of Facilities in accordance with the provisions of Governing Board policy in evaluation of classified personnel.
TERMS OF
EMPLOYMENT: 12 Months
SALARY: Salary for the position is set according to the Classified Salary Schedule determined by the Governing Board.
