Montgomery County OIC looking to bring an drum line experience to our youth. We are looking for build a talented team to assist with building our drumline HBCU style.

The Percussion Director will

• design programs that effectively complement and enhance the visual and musical program.
• evaluate members' abilities and assigns student equipment performance accordingly.
• work closely with the Director and the other staff members to develop a sound program, including uniform, floor, and prop design.
• attend all rehearsals and performances to instruct members in fundamental and advanced snare, tenor, bass, and keyboard techniques.
• teach members program material.
• choreograph, arrange, and implement Percussion routine(s), both as an integrated part of the band (Field Show, Parade Routine, Stand Tunes, Cadences), and as an independent unit .
• coordinate the Percussion rehearsal schedule
• schedule and conduct extra rehearsals for the unit, in addition to the scheduled marching band rehearsals as needed.
• ensure the highest possible level of performance from the Percussion members thorough a proper warm-up process, effective preparation, and attention to individual members.
• recruit potential Percussion members while retaining current members.
• ensure that the Percussion is properly equipped for rehearsals and performances.
• manage all equipment necessary for rehearsals and performances including maintenance, repair, and acquisition recommendations.
• participate in spring semester program planning
• recommend new property purchases within the budget allocations.
• establish communication with parents of Percussion students and organize their efforts in support of the unit.
• other related duties, as assigned, to assist the Director prepare students for competitions and public appearances, including parades and reviews.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School Diploma
• Background in marching band percussive performance required (Preferred from HBCU).
• Experience in the various sub groups of the percussive unit (e.g. battery/pit) required.
• Bringing in additional staff is acceptable, with permission and vetting from Director
• Experience in composing and choreographing routines for the various Percussion units required.
• Experience working with school-aged students required;
• Background in performing with a drums corps, university marching, or military organization preferred.
• Background in instruction/adjudication of a drum corps or marching organization preferred.

. Must attend all rehearsals and performances.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: From $15.00 per hour

Schedule:

• 4 hour shift
• 8 hour shift

• Norristown, PA 19401: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)
