Pay- $16.50 an hour

Search Inc. is seeking to hire a dynamic and energetic Direct Support Professional (DSP) to support small groups of adults with developmental disabilities at our Ignite program located in Evanston and the Norwood Park neighborhood of Chicago.

The Ignite DSP is responsible for providing personalized care and support to the individuals attending program both on site at the adult learning center and out in the community. This is a role in which each day is truly different and exciting! Some days you will be on site leading interactive and meaningful activities focusing on independent living and social skills building and others you will facilitate trips to fun locations such as The Field Museum or Lincoln Park Zoo! If you're a person that likes variety, this is the job for you!

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Caregiving- Assiting with hygiene, preparing/heating lunches, and toileting as needed.
• Transportation- Train individuals to utilize the CTA, Driving a 15 passenger van when needed.
• Community Involvement- Assist in facilitating group outings and volunteering opportunities.
• Activity Planning- Plan fun and exciting community outings and activities for days spent on site.

Qualifications:

• A US High School diploma or equivalent for Residential Services
• The ability to lift/carry up to 44 lbs. and perform basic physical moves such as kneeling, reaching, crouching, bending, and twisting
• The ability to obtain CPR and First Aid certification, however, training is provided
• A valid driver’s license is required
• The willingness to be certified to drive 10-16 passenger vehicles is required. We provide the training and certification process
• Flexibility to work holidays
