JOB TITLE: EHS Teacher

Essential Job Function:

· Plan and implement activities in an individual and developmentally appropriate manner for primary children in keeping with the philosophy and Performance Standards of Early Head Start and the licensing requirements of New Jersey for infants and toddlers ages 0-3 years.

· Follow standards and regulations set forth by the Head Start Performance Standards, and Chapter 52 manual of requirements for childcare centers state of New Jersey Department of Children and Families.

· Works collaboratively with others to ensure the successful operations of a classroom with a total of 8 children (Teacher:Child Ratio 1:4).

· Implementation of the Creative Curriculum for Infant/Toddlers to achieve outcomes for children of all abilities; builds and maintains a positive, nurturing, and supportive relationship with children and families; plans and provides a learning environment and experiences that promote physical, social, intellectual, and emotional development; assesses the development of assigned children and sets goals for their development communicates with parents and encourages their input regarding the growth and development of their children; maintains and updates individual child portfolios;

· Maintains a safe and healthy environment in the classroom and on the playground;

· Reports safety hazards and/or equipment needs to the center Director who reports it to the Quality Care EHS Education Specialist and/or Health & Safety Specialist;

· Follows health and safety procedures for hand washing, diapering, handling bodily fluids, sanitizing toys and equipment, serving bottles and food, and breastfeeding procedures.

· Collaborates with Quality Care EHS-CCP agency personnel to ensure adherence with the delivery of all EHS services per HS performance Standards.

· Observe, assess, screen, and document each child's growth and development in your class. Minimum of five observations to be entered into Teaching Strategies no later than Friday of every week.

· Plan activities to meet the needs of individual children. Maintain accurate records in an individual folder for each child.

· Prepare and maintain appropriate records and reports. This may include maintaining classroom sign-in/out sheets and preparing a monthly report with the Education Specialist.

· Ensure that the process of providing service to children with special needs in the classroom is implemented.

· Plan activities involving parents in the classroom and include activities which can be implemented in the home.

· Visit the home of each child at least two (2) times within the program year. Prepare and conduct two (2) parent/teacher conferences within the program year.

· Attend training and workshops to ensure the 20 hours of staff development required each year is completed.

Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field with training hours in Infant/Toddler content (preferred) or

· Infant/Toddler Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential or High School Diploma/GED and enrollment in a CDA coursework program earning 120 hours.

· Experience working with infants and toddlers (preferred)

· Good communication skills

· Ability to work independently and well with others

· Able to lift a child weighing 40 pounds

· Ability to maneuver on the floor with children

· All positions require candidates to successfully complete background check fingerprinting- Criminal History Record Information, CARI" "Child Abuse Record Information and Montoux (TB) test as part of a health physical.

· Must be vaccinated for COVID-19 and provide proof of vaccination. (Unless approved for Religious or medical exemption)
