The ED, Global Strategic PDx Ecosystem & Market Shaping sits at the heart of Global Precision Diagnostics in the Global Portfolio & Strategy Capabilities function and informs precision diagnostic strategy above and across-therapeutic areas with direct impact on decision-making across the Novartis Innovative Medicines portfolio.

The candidate will be part of a high performing Global Precision Diagnostic team and will lead the generation of meaningful insights to inform precision diagnostics strategy development and recommendations to senior management across the business.

The ED, Global Strategic PDx Ecosystem & Market Shaping will:

  • Build deep understanding of the rapidly evolving global diagnostic landscape working closely with the region and countries. The scope will include new technologies, regulatory, reimbursement, policy dynamics, patient and testing journeys, competitor positioning across different market archetypes.

  • Systematic daily monitoring of the evolving Precision Diagnostic ecosystem and reporting implications for the Novartis Precision Diagnostics Portfolio across oncology and non-oncology portfolio.

  • Based upon future-oriented insights and opportunities, provide recommendations to inform investment decisions in diagnostic technology, Dx Tar- get Product Profiles, Dx Development & Commercialization Partnerships, Global Launch Readiness and Drug and/or Diagnostic Life Cycle Management (LCM).

  • Deliver an independent view to decision-making bodies with an external perspective, future-oriented insights, and early warning intelligence.

The ideal location for this role is in the East Hanover, NJ or Cambridge, MA site but, remote work may be possible (there may be some exceptions based on legal entity registration). Please note that this role would not provide relocation as a result. If associate is remote, all home office expenses and any travel/lodging to specific to the East Hanover, NJ or Cambridge, MA site for periodic live meetings will be at the employee’s expense. The expectation of working hours and travel (domestic and/or international) will be defined by the hiring manager.”
If applicable (for over 10% travel): “This position will require 10% plus travel.

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $233,600 and $350,400; however, while salary ranges are effective from 1/1/23 through 12/31/23, fluctuations in the job market may necessitate adjustments to pay ranges during this period. Further, final pay determinations will depend on various factors, including, but not limited to geographical location, experience level, knowledge, skills and abilities. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.

Minimum requirements

What you will bring:

Bachelor’s Degree required.
MSc, PhD, PharmD, and/or MBA strongly preferred.

  • Greater than 10 years of experience in role across diagnostic and pharma industry precision diagnostics leadership roles
  • Deep understanding of diagnostic business models and what it takes to be successful
  • Highly intellectual with excellent analytical skills and learning agility
  • Proven ability to connect, collaborate and work effectively in a highly matrixed environ- ment
  • Sense of urgency in managing complex pro- jects & diverse project teams to achieve goals on time
  • Resourceful, motivated, decisive, and proac- tive; must be able to manage multiple priori- ties in a fast-growing organization
  • A clear communicator with the ability to communicate complex issues in a simplified and pragmatic manner
  • Experienced in leading cross-functional teams and skilled at influencing without authority
