YOUR DAY AS A VOCATIONAL EDUCATION SPECIALIST
As a Vocational Education Specialist at Families Forward, you oversee a group of clients and ensure that employment evaluation and planning services are completed within a specified timeframe. You interview clients to gather information about their work, education, and training history, and use a range of tests and evaluation tools to assess their interests, abilities, strengths, weaknesses, and functional limitations. Additionally, you evaluate client responses to determine their organizational ability, perseverance, attendance, punctuality, flexibility, interpersonal skills, work habits, and communication skills.
Based on the results of various assessments, such as medical, mental health, substance abuse, and psychosocial assessments, you develop employment plans for each client. These plans may include employment and vocational training referrals, work experience program referrals, and appropriate job options. You communicate with other service providers within the company about your clients, and you document all client services and activities in our system. When necessary, you also prepare special reports.

WHAT IS REQUIRED TO BE A VOCATIONAL EDUCATION SPECIALIST?
- Bachelor's degree in vocational rehabilitation, vocational education, psychology, education, or a related field
