Epi Breads is seeking an EHS Manager / Coordinator with a background in the manufacturing arena for our bakeries located in Atlanta GA & Muskegon MI. Please review the Job Description below for Job Duties. This is a travel position.

EHS Manager / Coordinator POSITION OVERVIEW:

The EHS Manager / Coordinator is responsible for monitoring the working conditions in all Epi Breads facilities located in Atlanta, GA and Muskegon, MI, to ensure that all activity is compliant with local, state and federal safety regulations.

This position is responsible for enforcing company health and safety guidelines, inspecting work-spaces and products to ensure compliance with safety standards and providing workplace safety training. This position also conducts hazard analyses, identifies preventive measures, monitors procedures, and oversees corrective actions.

The Safety and EHS Coordinator possesses excellent program knowledge as well as environmental and ergonomic knowledge and consistently demonstrates this expertise when working with Operations.

EHS Manager / Coordinator ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Facilitates compliance with Occupational Health and Safety (OSHA) guidelines. Implements OSHA policies and develops program to ensure enforcement of OSHA policies.
  • Works to identify best practices and incorporates these methodologies into our standards to continuously improve the landscape
  • Analyzes metrics and reviews incident trends to rationalize the allocation of appropriate resources to areas where the risk is highest
  • Trains employees in all safety procedures and ensures daily adherence of procedures. Leads and manages daily, weekly and monthly trainings.
  • Designs methods for appraising safety conditions in the plant and office areas
  • Perform frequent site audits (all shifts) to identify all non-compliance equipment and/or processes at the site. Implement solutions to eliminate exposure to these risks and prevent injury.
  • Inspects working conditions and equipment to ensure all products and activities are compliant with safety guidelines as required by OSHA
  • Directs accident investigation procedures, investigates safety violations, determines root causes, maintains records of safety-related incidents and proposes corrective actions
  • Collaborates with managers to monitor compliance and safety issues; intervenes in unsafe activities and operations
  • Oversees the use of dangerous chemicals, machinery and determines potential safety risk
  • Conducts risk assessment and enforces preventative measures.
  • Oversees workplace repair, installations and any other work that could harm employees' safety
  • Suggests revisions to production schedules and employee activity that does not meet health and safety codes
  • Orders safety gear and supplies for the workplace
  • Facilitates emergency drills as required to gauge employee readiness
  • Consults with management regarding the implementation of new safety procedures as mandated by the company, local, state and federal agencies
  • Manages workers compensation claim investigation in partnership with plant HRM and operations leaders
  • Liaises with and reports to official regulatory bodies on OSHA matters
  • Coordinates schedule to visit all locations and all shifts on a regular basis

EHS Manager / Coordinator Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelors’ degree (BA/BS) from four-year college or university. Minimum of 5 years of related experience; bakery/manufacturing experience preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge of federal, state and local health and safety, and environmental regulations is essential. Direct experience dealing with regulatory agencies and / or compliance officers is required.
  • Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret the most complex business documents
  • Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive issues
  • Ability to write reports, manuals, speeches and articles using distinctive style; ability to tailor communication in order to make effective and persuasive presentations on complex topics to employees and top management
  • Ability to motivate and negotiate effectively with key employees and top management to take desired action
  • Ability to inspire change through providing comprehensive risk assessments and data analysis

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $90,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
