Role and Responsibilities:
- Implement the requirements of the client’s EHS Management Plan (EHSMP) and Environmental Health and Safety Plan (EHASP);
- Support the CM in preparation of Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) in accordance with BEDC’s Standards;
- Support the CM in conducting various training for CM staff including new employee orientations, visitor orientations and Emergency Action Plan training;
- Review all EHS related submittals by the Contractors, including, but not limited to, EHASPs, JHAs, monthly reports, asbestos/lead/mercury/PCB management and sampling plans, waste management plans etc.
- Facilitate weekly EHS meetings with the Contractor’s EHS Representative (EHSR), and other project management personnel as appropriate, to ascertain and discuss upcoming construction related activity EHS activities.
- Track and monitor the Contractor’s compliance with EHASP(s) and JHA(s);
- Track and monitor all site EHSRs’ performance including, but not limited to, reviewing the EHSR’s daily reports and whether EHS issues are being adequately addressed.
- Review Contractor’s incident reports for adequacy, participate in meetings related to construction related incidents, and verify all necessary Contractor corrective actions are implemented;
- Submit EHS monthly status reports and metrics. Prepare monthly trending analysis of Contractor EHS performance;
- Oversee Emergency Action Plans (EAPs) and drills for the site in coordination with DEP’s Operating Bureaus (if applicable);
- Review and manage all EHS Annual Reports (i.e. EPCRA, Hazardous Waste, Confined Space);
- Support the CM in preparing Contractor and EHS staff evaluations, conduct evaluation review meetings, and verify evaluations are conducted semi-annually
Required Skills, Certifications, and Education:
- Relevant construction experience, five years of which were exclusively in construction EHS management.
- OSHA 30.
- 40 Hr. Hazwoper Training or 8 hr. Hazwoper refresher.
- Resource Conservation Recovery Act (RCRA) /DOT hazardous waste/manifesting training.
- Permit- required confined space.
- BEDC spill prevention and control.
- Control of hazardous energy sources (lockout/tagout).
