SouthWest Water has a current opportunity for a talented individual to join its Environmental, Health, and Safety department.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

As part of our dynamic EHS team, you will report to our EHS Manager. As an EHS Specialist, you will be part of the team that manages the EHS function for our entire Texas line of business. Specifically, you will be supporting Safety and Compliance Operations across our water and wastewater sites in East Texas, from Pottsboro to Conroe, Texas. The EHS Specialist supports the development and implementation of programs, policies, and procedures with a continuous improvement mindset. We need a hands-on professional who will partner with Operations leadership to ensure compliant operations and a safe environment for all employees as we continue our growth path.

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, a customer service mindset, an appetite for challenges, and enjoy operating in a fast-paced environment.

Essential Duties

  • Perform safety inspections during site visits to field offices.
  • Assist in the implementation of the Safety Program.
  • Gather documents for and attend TCEQ compliance inspections.
  • Prepares Groundwater Conservation District (GCD) reports.
  • Obtains GCD permit renewals, updates, and new permits.
  • Compiles Consumer Confidence Report (CCR) data.
  • Prepares the Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) reports.
  • Administers the lead and copper program.
  • Investigates and resolves all TCEQ Notice of Violation

SKILLS & ABILITIES

General: Has the ability to perform water and wastewater industry routine EHS practices. Must be detail and goal-oriented and able to independently plan and execute projects with minimal supervision. Often under deadline pressure, must be able to work effectively with several projects simultaneously.

Education: A bachelor's degree in a related field is required.

Experience: Two years of related experience is preferred, but not required.

Computer Skills: Experience using Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, specifically SAP is desirable. Experience with MS Office is required.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Driver's License: Hold a valid Texas driver's license with an acceptable driving record as determined by the Company insurance carrier; Familiar with safety practices and rules applicable to job duties.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Temporarily will work from home due to COVID conditions and will regularly visit/work at project locations. In normal circumstances, the employee work will in a climate-controlled office environment shared by other employees.
