EKG Technician Job at Evangelical Community Hospital

Typical Work Schedule: Days (Monday through Friday, 6:30am-3:00pm ; rotating weekends and holidays 6:30am-10:30am)
Primary Shift: Shift 1
Full Time Equivalent: 0.5 (40 hours biweekly)

Position Purpose:
The EKG Technician is responsible for performing diagnostic EKGs and related procedures. This includes the following essential functions:
1. Records identifying information required for EKG records.
2. Performs EKG studies.
3. Performs set-up for DCG studies and Event Monitoring.
4. Maintains the integrity of the MUSE system and facilitates the reading of EKGs on line by the physicians.
5. Ensures that EKGs are properly edited in MUSE.
6. Scans holter monitors and prepares reports for interpretation.
7. Interacts with physicians and other caregivers caring for the patient.
8. Completes all necessary paperwork.
9. Maintains daily records of all studies performed.
10. Follows all hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
11. Participates in departmental quality improvement activities.
12. Represent the hospital in community and professional activities.
13. Requires use of computer applications such as hospital information systems, performance management software, education/training software, Microsoft Word, Excel, email and department specific software and web applications.
14. Performs other duties within Cardiopulmonary services as assigned.
Qualifications:
1. High school diploma or equivalent required.
2. Candidates with prior experience in electrocardiography or satisfactory completion of on-the-job training preferred. Completion of training in electrocardiography and training in scanning of holter monitors.
3. BLS certification required.
4. Pennsylvania state police criminal record check, child abuse history clearance and an FBI criminal history check required.
