Electrical Engineer Job at Expert Crane, Inc.
Job Purpose
- Position is located in CUYAHOGA HEIGHTS, OHIO. Qualified candidate will be responsible for developing and designing electrical and electronic systems for overhead crane control solutions. As a member of our engineering team, you will manage projects from concept to completion by ensuring each projects requirements are met in a detailed and professional manner. This position is very engaging and hands on.
Essential Functions
- Evaluate electrical and electronic systems, products, programs and components by designing and conducting research programs, applying knowledge of electricity, materials and programming.
- Confirm system and product capabilities by designing feasibility and testing methods; testing properties.
- Develop electronic and electromechanical products by studying customer requirements; researching and testing manufacturing and assembly methods and materials; soliciting observations from operators and suppliers.
- Develop manufacturing processes by designing and modifying equipment for fabricating, building, assembling and installing components.
- Assure system and product quality by designing testing methods; testing finished-product and system capabilities; confirming fabrication, assembly and installation processes.
- Prepare product reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and trends.
- Provide engineering information by answering questions and requests.
- Maintain product and company reputation by complying with government regulations.
- Keep equipment operational by coordinating maintenance and repair services; following manufacturer’s instructions and established procedures; requesting special services.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
- Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Design, program and implement software programs for the control and safe operation of overhead material handling equipment.
- Support product lifecycle changes and versioning of new components and software for trackability of materials in the field and for troubleshooting purposes.
- Recommend, architect and develop PLC, inverter and HMI solutions that best fit the application of overhead cranes.
- Develop, maintain and support schematics, wiring diagrams and support necessary for components related to the electrical systems and controls of overhead cranes.
- Assist in the final wiring connections, start-up, testing and implementation of control panels and equipment on the overhead cranes.
- Represent and support the R&D department during the phase of new machines and concepts.
- System integration of 3rd party equipment and peripherals, including support after integration.

Electrical Engineer Education & Licensure Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year institution accredited by ABET
- Minimum four-years of experience working under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
Working Conditions
- Almost always work indoors. At times may work outdoors if the electrical system or equipment requires it.
- Are sometimes exposed to sounds and noise levels that might be distracting or uncomfortable.
