Roanoke Cement Company is looking for an electrical and mechanical technician located in Troutville, VA. This position will work on a 7 day swing shift(rotating from 1st, 2nd and 3rd shift). The qualified applicant must be willing to be trained and obtain the Virginia DPOR electrical journeyman certification or DMME Electrical certification.

Responsibilities:

• Demonstrate safe working practices around all electrical and mechanical equipment.
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical equipment and controls required to manufacture cement, from quarry through load out. Examples include motor controls, drives, instrumentation, and electrical distribution.
• Troubleshoot and maintain mechanical equipment required to manufacture cement, from quarry through load out. Examples include cutting, welding, rigging, lifting, and routine mechanical maintenance.
• Read and interpret electrical/mechanical prints and equipment manuals.
• Have mechanical and electrical math skills, including algebra.
• Distinguish color for electrical purposes.
• Attend classes and seminars as requested, may be at night and/or require out of town travel.
• Ability to work in adverse weather conditions, to climb, and to work at heights.
• Have good physical and mental health; have the ability to lift 75 pounds.
• Communicate both orally and in writing, to create and maintain records.

Required Experience:

• Must have the ability to interpret wiring diagrams and blue prints.
• Must have the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform installations, repairs, and identify items in this category.
• Ability to use a personal computer to research pertinent issues, order materials, and write simple correspondence.
