Job Description:
An Operations and Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing preventative and reactive maintenance, system commissioning, troubleshooting and general maintenance of our customers’ solar and electrical assets. This key position is responsible for managing time and resources so that O&M customers are serviced promptly and effectively. Responsibilities include electrical troubleshooting, module cleaning, data collection, system inspections, monitoring systems support, adherence to safety procedures, process improvement, and innovation. A strong foundation in system troubleshooting, commercial trade works, telecom, electrical installation, solar electrical systems, and customer service is required. The ideal candidate will also lead efforts for safe working practices.
Commercial Technician Level 2 - Responsibilities:
- Complete mechanical work with other technicians of the same level or higher
- Assist with replacing solar inverters and racking
- Assigned as the lead technician to complete technical services on commercial PV systems.
- Assigned as the lead technician to complete system commissioning and PV systems maintenance.
- Complete both minor and major tasks while adhering to specific checklists
- Service Energy Storage Systems (ESS) for commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance
- Service Electrical Vehicle (EV) Charger systems for commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance
- Various work on DC and AC electricity
- Solar Inverter and Battery Charger troubleshooting
- Switchgear and distribution panel troubleshooting
- Electrical meter troubleshooting and installations including Current-Transformers (CT)
- On the job training with expectations of learning and skill growth.
- Assist to communicate daily activities to appropriate personnel and internal staff.
- Collect data, photos, and assist in the creation of field reports for appropriate company personnel and customers.
- Maintain company-assigned tools, safety gear, and other resources.
- Attend training sessions from internal and external resources (Inverter and monitoring manufacturers, etc.)
- Other duties as assigned.
Educational, professional, and/or other requirements:
- +5 years of Electrical Experience - Tech 2
- Knowledge of NEC codes a must
- NABCEP certified preferred (training provided)
- Can travel locally 60% of the time
- Ability to work in extreme environments (example: hot sun, cold).
- Must be comfortable working in PPE (Personal Protection Equipment)
- Must be willing and able to climb ladders, stairs, and work on rooftops.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are a must.
- Exercises a high level of professionalism and a positive demeanor.
- Experience with hand tools, power tools, and multimeter
- Knowledge of UBC and other building codes a plus.
- Ability to innovate and improve operations and solve complex problems.
- Computer skills preferred, Tech Savvy a Plus
- Ability to troubleshoot and be resourceful
- Thrive in a team environment.
Physical and Labor Requirements:
- Climb to heights and conduct work with proper safety restraints.
- Lift heavy loads up to 90 lbs. and navigate construction job site terrain.
- Ability to bend, squat, and lift.
- Ability to continuously stand or walk.
- Capable of operating heavy machinery, including construction vehicles.
- Ability to be vigilant for onsite safety concerns.
- Perform setup and cleanup tasks at the job site.
