Salary Information

This position is in the Building/trades craft: 04-00 with starting pay at $42.20, $41.53 or $40.87 per hour, depending on leave time selected, plus excellent benefits. This classification is included in the Building & Trades Bargaining unit. A twelve-month probation is required.

Position Description:

• Under the general supervision of the Buildings and Grounds Superintendent, this position is responsible for performing work assignments as an Electrician at the Wisconsin Secure Program Facility (WSPF) and Prairie du Chien Correctional Institution. This skilled Trades position is entrusted with a high level of responsibility. Responsibilities include inspection, installation, analysis, preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, and repair of all facility electrical devices, appliances, equipment and system components (i.e. wiring, lighting, switches, receptacles, motors, pumps, switchgear, transfer switches, transformers, power distribution systems and components, etc.) throughout the institution complex and property. This position will report and make recommendations on lighting and power controls, installations, modifications, etc., to further enhance the institution energy conservation efforts. This position will assist other maintenance department personnel in routine tasks when necessary. This position will occasionally provide direction, training, instruction, supervision, and coordinate the work of Facilities Maintenance personnel, inmate workers, or Limited Term Employees regarding maintenance tasks, repair work assignments, and/or projects related to electrical systems and equipment.

Qualifications

Minimally qualified applicants must possess a current Master Electrician license issued by the Wisconsin Department of Safety & Professional Services and have a valid driver's license or eligible to obtain one prior to employment.
