Position Summary

Under the direct supervision of the community administrator or designee, the Lead Emergency Assistant provides security and emergency support, as well as general office assistance for the residents, staff, and grounds of the assigned community. This position will also provide oversight during the absence of the administrator or designee. They will also be responsible for mentoring and training other Emergency Assistants.

Key Responsibilities

  • Greets visitors and families at the security and reception desk to the community; directs visitors and ensures they sign in according to established policies and procedures.
  • Answer the telephone and takes messages according to established policies and procedures, logs requests for community information.
  • Responds to all emergency situations involving staff, visitors, residents, facility, grounds, or equipment problems. Notifies appropriate person (e.g., Administrator on call/Maintenance on call) according to established policies and procedures.
  • Maintains logs and records of emergencies and unusual circumstances; maintains logs for nightly activities as appropriate.
  • Locks buildings and conducts building security check according to established procedures, as appropriate.
  • Provide light office support as needed; may distribute resident and staff mail.
  • Maintains current knowledge of established emergency practices and procedures.
  • Complies with Wesley Woods Standards of Conduct and job-related behavior.
  • Attends required courses and training.
  • Participates in staff meetings as requested.
  • Maintains acceptable attendance standards.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent. Some college course work preferred.
  • Six months experience working with the public and/or customer services.
  • The ability to read, write and follow written and oral instructions in English.
  • Experience in a retirement community preferred. Current CPR and/or First Aid will be required.
  • Ability to lift up to fifty pounds; to bend, stoop and twist.

Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.
