Employment Readiness Specialist/ASL

Easterseals New Jersey is looking for an experienced Employment Readiness Specialist to join our team!

Requires 50% local travel throughout the state of New Jersey

This position is responsible for training and assisting team members in all phases of securing competitive community employment for participants who are interested in career planning using a person-centered approach.

As Employment Readiness Specialist ASL , you will also ensure that all transition services are curriculum-based through vocational training, job development, advocacy, and progressive supports when participant’s obtain employment by delivering services that achieve quality, utilization, outcome, and financial sustainability.

Must have the ability to work a flexible work schedule including evenings, nights, weekends, and/or holidays to accommodate participant schedules, their employers, and/or other service activity.

Key responsibilities include (But limited to):

• Trains team members on program and regulatory expectations of the career exploration/hybrid, Supported Employment and Prevocational training processes to ensure the planning and coordinating of services and resources.
• Oversees & supports the implementation of assessments, job sampling and task analyses.
• Cooperates/Participates with Easterseals, and all regulatory agencies for staff inspections or investigations.
• Networks with business vendors and local school districts to promote the employment program.
• Assists in the development of employment plans to break down barriers so that participants achieve their fullest potential.
• Provides rehabilitation skill training to increase participant’s level of progression.
• Advocates for rights and dignities of persons served and identify and promote natural supports for persons served that promote their inclusion into community life.
• Communicates new ideas and knowledge that improves services and operations.
  

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE :

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience and a minimum two years’ work experience in Employment Services
• Possess a valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record.
• Must be fluent in American Sign Language and knowledgeable of hearing loss, communication uses, culture and accommodations in the workplace.
• Must pass the SLCE test administered by DVRS
• Comfortable learning new software technology and knowledge of MS Office skills
• Planning and organizational skills necessary to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Knowledgeable in job performance assessments
• Effective written and verbal communication; Ability to effectively interact with a diverse population.
• Possess good judgment and decision-making capabilities; Problem-solving and listening skills.
