About Insight Energy
Insight Energy (IE) – ISG’s energy practice – is an exciting area of growth for the firm. The practice focuses on managing energy spend for ISG clients across all industry verticals, from national retailers to heavy industrials. The Energy IE team works closely with clients to identify goals and develop strategies for reducing costs, hedging against market risks, setting budgets and tracking financial performance, and delivering on demand-side / sustainability solutions. Additionally, IE offers a full range of sustainability services, including emissions measurement (Scope 1, 2 and 3), target setting, decarbonization road mapping, sustainability project implementation, and emissions reporting. The IE team leverages ISG’s world-class procurement capabilities to help our clients procure energy efficiency equipment and clean energy.
Role Overview
We’re looking for an Energy and Sustainability Sales Executive to join Insight Energy to help us transform the future of energy! This position requires a highly motivated, competitive business professional who is passionate about energy and sustainability and committed to succeeding in energy consulting services sales. The role is focused on growing Insight Energy’s traditional energy management and sustainability businesses via the identification and acquisition of new clients. The Energy Sales Executive must manage all activities throughout the consultative sales process, identifying needs, providing solutions, and exceeding expectations. Preference will be given to individuals with experience acquiring commercial, industrial, or institutional accounts for retail suppliers or energy consultants.
Responsibilities
New Logo Acquisition – 90%
- Diligently acquire new clients to profitably grow Insight Energy’s consulting business by selling energy supply management and sustainability consulting services and associated products
- Meet or exceed all new business development objectives
- Have an aptitude for managing a complex, consultative sales process including lead generation, qualification, proposal development, and contract negotiation for rapidly evolving services offerings
- Exhibit an outgoing, professional and mature demeanor with a gift for establishing and maintaining a positive rapport and working relationship with a wide variety of personality types
- Identify potential clients in designated target markets and complete appropriate research on their business needs and buying patterns, including working with marketing to plan and effectively execute lead-generation campaigns
- Work directly with Marketing and ODC (Outbound Demand Creation) teams to drive lead generation and qualification of ideal targets
- Self-generate new leads, identify and contact decision makers, qualify potential business opportunities, and hand off in coordination with Insight Energy sales team
- Qualify prospects against company criteria for ideal customers and sales
- Collect all necessary information and documents from clients to allow Insight Energy to provide consultative advice and facilitate agreements with retail suppliers
- Present to individuals and groups to deliver Insight Energy’s value proposition and demonstrate our capabilities
- Maintain effective communication with clients, coworkers and retail suppliers, including required follow up and escalation to ensure client issues are resolved in a timely and satisfactory manner
- Develop, share and maintain an in‐depth knowledge of all key competitors
- Maintain timely sales related information and provide reporting through designated tools
- Promote a positive work environment, develop effective working relationships, and demonstrate effective teamwork and team selling.
Request for Proposal Response – 10%
- Respond to Requests for Proposals (RFP) from prospective clients for energy consulting services
- Manage all aspects of Insight Energy’s response by working across all groups needed to prepare a comprehensive response

Qualifications
Required
- Proven ability to achieve and exceed sales targets
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Business, Marketing or a Technical Field
- 2+ years of professional selling electricity and natural gas procurement advisory services in conjunction with risk management support
- Working knowledge of sustainability and its implications in the energy sector; understanding of energy market dynamics and important policy/regulatory drivers.
- Working knowledge of supply- and demand-side energy technologies.
- Comfortable in an entrepreneurial, growth‐stage, performance‐driven environment
- Track record of successfully establishing and managing Director, VP and C‐Suite client relationships at major corporations
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written), including the ability to present comfortably to senior executives
- Must be self-motivated, possess a strong work ethic and attention to detail, and be able to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple competing deadlines
- Ability to problem solve and engage others in a team selling environment, contributing to achievement of team goals and objectives
- Must possess unquestionable integrity and always be willing to do what is right for the client and the company
- Must demonstrate a professional appearance and demeanor, and promote a positive work environment
- Ability to learn and adhere to business processes and rules, maintaining high quality
- Travel is required (estimated 25% – 50% travel)
- Strong computer skills, specifically with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- CRM experience is a plus, preferably with Salesforce.com
Preferred
- 5+ years professional selling experience, preferably in the retail energy field
- Familiarity with deregulated U.S. electricity or and natural gas markets
- Master’s degree, preferably in Business, Marketing or a Technical Field
