Stabilus is a global leader in the production of gas springs and dampers on five continents. This position will be located at ACE Controls, Inc., a Stabilus company. ACE is the internationally recognized expert in the field of industrial damping technology. The company’s portfolio now includes automation control, motion control, vibration control and safety products.

Job Overview:

The Engineering Manager directs, plans, and leads the Engineering department personnel through various projects and activities. They are responsible for the design and development of new products and technologies as well as supporting and sustaining current product quality. The Engineering Manager leads development projects and manages interdepartmental activities associated with product development and product sustainability projects. The Engineering Manager leads a team of direct reports including Product Engineers, CAD/ERP Specialists and Test Engineers and Technicians. It is the responsibility of the Engineering Manager to maintain a culture of innovation and teamwork. The Engineering Manager represents the ACE business unit, as part of a global network in the Stabilus group

Essential Job Functions:

· Responsible for designing and developing new products and technology as well as implementing projects as delegated by internal business strategy and market needs.

· Responsible for the sustainability of current products and continuous improvement and cost savings of said products.

· Responsible for supporting the quality and manufacturing group in new product launches as well as maintaining current product and quality needs.

· Responsible for generating new ideas for Technology and New Products to ensure the company maintains technological leadership in the marketplace.

· Responsible for developing and maintaining the Company’s internal proprietary computer program, ACCESS. This program sizes, simulates, and designs orifice patterns for all current Shock Absorbers as well as new Shock Absorbers.

· Assist and lead Product Engineers with New Product Development projects. When necessary, advise and consult with technical assistance and resources.

· Assist and lead the Engineering personnel for proper maintenance and implementation of product change requests, part numbering systems, bill of materials, and CAD data and related blueprints.

· Assist and lead the Test Lab for proper design and fabrication of test equipment. Ensures resources for project load and consults on testing and equipment when assistance is required.

· Participates in any appropriate committees and teams, such as Product Planning Team and Management Review Meetings for the ISO 9001 certification.

· Represents Ace on Intellectual Property Issues and maintains the IP files.

· Responsible for material compliance of all ACE products and components. This includes but is not limited to REACH, RoHS, CA Prop 65, Conflict Minerals and TSCAs.

· Responsible for export controls compliance and general EAR and ITAR knowledge.

· Submit proposals when new resources are required for Engineering Department. This includes additions to staff and required engineering equipment.

· Responsible for the implementation and maintenance of the ISO 9001 Design and Development processes including all work instructions and procedures related to the Engineering department.

· Responsible for maintaining a positive culture inside and outside the Engineering Department.

· Responsible for providing appropriate support to the Sales Department as needed in meetings with customers or where special assistance is needed.

· Occasional travel (US as well as overseas) is needed for internal or customer related business.

· Represent the ACE business unit and support global strategy with Stabilus.

· The Engineering Manager is responsible to drive ideation through the appropriate channels to further increase Stabilus innovation efforts.

Skills:

· Skilled in MS Office: Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams

· Working knowledge of Solid Edge or other CAD software

· Working knowledge of FEA and CFD software

· Familiar with Matlab

· Excellent organizational and communication skills

· This individual must also possess exceptional leadership qualities and the ability to build an effective team, as well as be an effective team member.

· Demonstrated experience with ERP systems, preferably QAD-EE, or SAP

Education, Training, Certifications:

· Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.

· Minimum 4 years of previous technical management or related experience.

· Knowledge of fluid mechanics and dynamics.

· Proven history of successful leadership, team building, and process improvements.

· Exposure to ISO 9001 standards.

Language Skills:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of employees, managers, and customers.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $100,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
