WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Lead the team that is responsible for enhancing and supporting our centralized MS SQL Server Platform consisting of thousands of mission critical databases
- Ensure utmost availability of the platform, and everything surrounding it
- ITIL focused responsibilities for the team include backups, monitoring, incident handling, request management, problem management, lifecycle management, knowledge management
- Enhance and improve our service offering through automation, third party tools, and leveraging new features of MS SQL Server
- Liaise with business support teams to ensure we are delivering on our service offerings
- Execute database migrations to a Microsoft Azure hosted SQL solution
- Implement and improve database best practices & standards for the operations team and our business peers
- Provide mentoring and leadership and act as technical escalation point for DBA’s, software engineers, and business peers
REQUIREMENTS
- 10+ years’ experience as an MS SQL Server Database DBA (plan, build, operate) in mission critical multi-TB database environments
- Proven track record of database architectural design and performance assessments
- Thorough understanding of SQL Server database internals
- In depth experience of SQL Server stack on virtualized platforms
- Proficiency in T-SQL, PowerShell, Azure scripting
- Self-motivation and the ability to learn and apply new technologies in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to drive and motivate operational team
- Implement, improve, and deliver service metrics to assure successful service delivery
- Strong written, oral and presentation skills
- Interested in challenges and excited by the responsibility of meeting the requirements of an exacting technology environment
