Environmental Compliance Associate Job at Moran Environmental Recovery
JOB SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for research, data collection and analysis around environmental, sustainability and compliance concepts, issues, and programs. This position will be managing projects to support MER’s metrics, dashboards, and reporting, including assisting with the implementation of new platforms for data management and content sharing. This position will also influence and assist with employee engagement and support the execution of MER’s new sustainability strategy and roadmap. This position will focus on a variety of topics for social and environmental responsibility within MER’s industry sectors, operational practices, and other functions across the company. In this role, the Associate will be responsible for the data analysis that supports our programs, targets, and goals. This position will support managers throughout the organization on related projects. This position will be part of the key team to develop and recommend processes and policies, and the design of new business models that will contribute to MER’s overall plans as a responsible and sustainable company.
The Associate needs to be results focused, demonstrate the ability to multi-task on a variety of projects at the same time and thrive in a fast-paced dynamic environment. The Associate will ensure consistent practices throughout all phases of data collection and analysis. The Associate will also work to create visuals of metrics and data that are easy to understand and support executive and management presentations.
The Associate will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of related corporate initiatives with direct contact and project-based reporting initiatives to leaders within the organization, which will allow for both efficiency and effectiveness efforts.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Coordinate collection and management of sustainability data for analysis and performance evaluation
Assist managers with research, synthesis of information, workshops, and presentations with opportunities to facilitate sessions and present work
Assess platforms and IT tools for collecting, managing, and reporting data. Assist in setting up and maintaining platforms and content
Assist with data analysis, report writing, and creation of actionable recommendations
Assist with creating policy, process documentation and performance evaluations
Create scalable and repeatable metrics and dashboards for reporting, determine value realization, and support data driven target setting for the development of our long term goals
Support employee engagement activities and communications around initiatives and goals
Work with teams to develop relevant research and/or analytical approaches around sustainability strategy and/or ESG data & analytics
Communicate with senior stakeholders in a credible and confident way
Bring an entrepreneurial and creative mindset to offer communications and strategies to our clients based on sustainability and environmental leadership
Works on environmental/ operational permis and licensing program including but not limited to:
oAssisting in maintaining and renewing MER’s permits and licenses in applicable jurisdictions as needed
oAssisting with monitoring and updating the master permits and licensing database to ensure our companies are properly licensed and registered in each state and/or locality in which the company is working
oWork with management to ensure that all Qualified Individuals (QI) for Company licenses maintain their necessary certifications
oHelp improving existing processes
oAssisting in researching applicable state and local regulations to maintain and ensure the Company’s compliance
oAssist in researching local and state regulations to determine which licenses we are required to have oRequest Certificate of good standing when necessary
Assisting with all databases associated with operational and/or environmental permits and licenses including but not limited to:
oAssist with entering data in the databases and making sure it is is accurate and when applicable, paired with accurate back up documentation (i.e., copy of license, application, supporting documentation etc.)
oAssist with user access to databases and making sure users know how to use the system
oAssist with web development to update platform with innovative features designed to provide best solution for process improvement
Perform other administrative duties as needed
QUALIFICATIONS:
Demonstrates experience with data analysis and strong writing skills
Ability to independently manage time and projects
Flexible team player that thrives on a growing team in a fast-paced culture with tight deadlines and shifting priorities
Ability to quickly learn research strategies, data analysis tools and visual platforms for metrics
Knowledge of sustainability concepts, business processes and business case/benefit design
Proficient in computer software applications: MS Office products, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project as well as familiarity with Smartsheet
Ability to travel as needed
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree required (Environmental Science or Environmental Policy preferred)
1-2 years of relevant experience in sustainability, research, data analysis and business case development preferred
