JOB SUMMARY:
This is a great opportunity for a pro to step into this role that has depth and a wide breadth of responsibilities. As the Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Manager, your primary function will be to help to keep Wacker Neuson employees healthy and safe. You will also have the opportunity to achieve top quartile results for Health and Safety as well as for Environmental programs.
You will be expected to create partnerships with department leaders at all U.S. and Canadian locations to assist in identifying workplace safety and health risks and in implementing control measures that align with company initiatives.
You will be responsible for knowing, interpreting, and appropriately applying all applicable federal, state, and local laws, statutes and regulations pertaining safety, hazardous waste and industrial hygiene.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:
Managerial Functions:
Plan, organize, execute and continuously improve department initiatives that align with our company strategy and key performance metrics.- Demonstrates critical thinking and problem solving to consistently and efficiently make reliable business decisions.
- Responsible for department budget and effective utilization of resources to achieve maximum results.
- Responsible for performance management (candid evaluations, constructive feedback, career development, etc.) of all subordinates and maintains accountability for entire team throughout the organization.
- Ensures an environment that promotes communication, collaboration and accountability with team members, cross functional departments and global colleagues.
- Leads by example and demonstrates the company's core values of expertise, passion, agility and entrepreneurship.
- Treats all levels of the organization with respect, honesty, and integrity while supporting diversity, inclusion, compliance, and safety of all employees.
- Administers updates and maintains EHS policies, procedures and written programs.
- Makes recommendations for changes and/or creation of same which are beneficial to the Company.
- Ensures proper communication and implementation.
- Facilitates the Safety Committee, Ambassador and First Responder Programs guiding members to work proactively with supervision in efforts to maintain a safe work environment preventing work place injury and illness.
- Provides/updates training as deemed appropriate for volunteers in these roles
- Facilitates safety and environmental training to new hires and annual re-training as required for all employees utilizing trained trainers, direct training or external resources.
- Ensures all training is properly documented.
- Manages the accident investigation process to ensure that management and employees have engaged in identifying root causes and taken appropriate steps to rectify them.
- Manages the effective implementation and ongoing maintenance of the Field Sales Safe Driver Program to prevent vehicle accidents.
- Develops, implements and maintains policies and procedures related to Fleet Safety.
- Conducts safety reviews and makes recommendations on new equipment and/or processes prior to purchase and/or implementation of changes.
- Assists the Product Safety Committee with safety reviews of Company products.
- Ensures that proper safety procedures are in place and employees are properly trained to address customer safety related to the use of our equipment, including on-site Company training or training/demonstrations at customer locations.
- Assures that periodic internal and external audits of facilities are done to identify conditions that may be unclean, unorganized, hazardous or non-compliant with OSHA standards.
- Drives a clean and safe working environment with employees and management.
- Manages workers compensation claims administration including accident investigation, claims processing and monitoring and assisting with getting the employee back to work in a timely fashion.
- Manages and coordinate annual hygiene, air and noise testing including audiometric exams.
- Develops and maintains appropriate metrics and other visual management tools to properly communicate and assist in managing all aspects of safety.
- Develops and implements a plan to comply with all applicable environmental laws. Completes all necessary reporting, permitting, and licensing with appropriate agencies such as DNR, EPA, DOT, DOC, DILHR, and OSHA.
- Maintains Material Safety Data Sheets.
- Coordinates and facilitates environmental training to employees where appropriate.
- Manages the insurance policies for Wacker Neuson US in conjunction with Wacker Neuson Corporate office in Germany.
- Ensures proper reporting, submission, and claims management associated with issues including communication with all appropriately involved parties.
- Works with finance in managing costs associated with insurance and claims.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Safety, Engineering, or other Environmental, Health and Safety Related program.
- Minimum 5 years hands-on experience in safety and environmental daily management in a manufacturing environment with emphasis on implementing and promoting a safety culture.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in completing all the annual state and federal safety and environmental compliance reports.
- OSHA 10 and/or 30 hour certification desired.
- Excellent verbal, written and public speaking skills.
- Proven track record of developing and implementing process improvements.
- Strong conflict resolution and problem solving skills.
- Proficient computer skills including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
