Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
[Health and safety management]
- Assist the safety team in conducting regular safety inspections of the automotive plant to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations specific to the automotive industry.
- Collaborate with the EHS team to develop and implement safety policies and procedures tailored to the unique challenges and risks present in an automotive plant.
- Conduct safety training sessions for employees, educating them on safety best practices, emergency procedures, and the proper use of safety equipment relevant to automotive manufacturing processes.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date safety records specific to the automotive plant, including incident reports, safety training documentation, inspection findings, and corrective action plans.
- Support the safety team in investigating accidents, incidents, and near-misses within the automotive plant, identifying root causes related to automotive manufacturing processes, and proposing preventative measures.
- Stay updated on relevant safety regulations, industry standards, and best practices specific to the automotive industry to assist in maintaining compliance and enhancing safety procedures within the plant.
- Participate in safety committee meetings and contribute ideas for improving safety practices and promoting a safety-conscious culture.
- Assist in the development and distribution of safety communication materials including posters, newsletters, and email notifications.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure consistent application of safety policies and procedures across different areas of the manufacturing process.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the automotive plant by providing suggestions and feedback on safety-related processes and procedures specific to automotive manufacturing.

- Collaborate with the safety team to develop and implement safety protocols for the construction of the EV plant, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and best practices.
- Assist in conducting safety inspections during the construction process, identifying potential hazards and recommending corrective measures to mitigate risks.
- Support the safety team in reviewing and approving contractor safety plans, ensuring adherence to safety standards and regulations throughout the construction phase.
- Assist in coordinating permit-to-work systems for high-risk construction activities, ensuring that proper authorization, risk assessments, and safety precautions are in place.
- Conduct safety training sessions for construction workers and contractors, focusing on specific hazards associated with construction activities and the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Assist in developing and maintaining safety documentation, including construction site safety plans, hazard assessments, safety records, and incident reports.
- Assist in overseeing the installation of production equipment, ensuring compliance with safety standards and facilitating safety inspections before equipment operation.
- Collaborate with contractors and equipment suppliers to ensure adherence to safety guidelines during the installation process.
Qualifications & Preferences
Minimum:
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- Computer Proficiency: Proficient in using Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other relevant software to prepare reports and documentation specific to the automotive plant environment.
- Certifications: Although not required, certifications such as OSHA 10-Hour or OSHA 30-Hour, specifically with a focus on the general industry, would be advantageous.
- Knowledge: Familiarity with safety regulations specific to the manufacturing industry, hazard identification within automotive manufacturing processes, risk assessment, and emergency response protocols in an automotive plant setting.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively deliver safety training and prepare accurate reports relevant to the automotive plant.
- Attention to Detail: Ability to observe and identify potential safety hazards within the automotive plant and ensure accurate record-keeping specific to automotive manufacturing processes.
- Teamwork: Collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams within the automotive plant to achieve safety goals.
- Organizational Skills: Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time efficiently, and handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously within the dynamic environment of an automotive plant.
- Analytical Thinking: Strong problem-solving skills to investigate incidents, analyze data specific to automotive manufacturing, and recommend preventive measures.
