- Creates, coordinates and conducts safety training programs by planning and scheduling training sessions and consulting specialists when necessary.
- Performs safety audits, inspections, and accident/incident investigations by observing employee activities and workplace conditions, submitting recommendations to management to correct deficiencies, eliminate hazards, and improve the overall program.
- Researches federal, state and local standards and regulations. Acts in an advisory capacity to the organization on regulatory compliance matters.
- Prepares materials for, and conducts, safety meetings for employees and work groups. Provides guidance to safety committees on improving the effectiveness of safety processes.
- Investigates accidents and analyzes accident data to evaluate the effectiveness of accident prevention and loss control programs. Compiles and presents statistics for internal use and external groups such as OSHA.
- Responsible for the administration of the facility’s EMS. Keep abreast of applicable laws and regulations through training or other methods.
- Ensure that all requirements set forth in the Environmental Management System (EMS) are fully developed, effectively implemented and adequately maintained. Assist all levels of management in developing procedures, work instructions and identifying and providing special environmental training.
- Support ongoing development and implementation of all Safety and Environmental programs/systems with the appropriate allocation of resources to guarantee their success.
- Recommends necessary changes to safety processes, including safety rules, practices, and training and personal protective equipment programs.
- Encourages employees to participate in safety goals through continual communication, close observation, and committee work to recognize people for exceptional safety efforts and present safety awards.
- Reviews and selects safety equipment to maintain and improve the company’s safety equipment standards program. Works with employees and supervisors to ensure standard tools and equipment minimize risks to employee health and safety.
- Provides guidance and training to supervisors, employees and safety committees on the behavioral safety process and other continuous improvement techniques as they relate to occupational safety and health.
- Serve as the “Driving Force” behind safety initiatives, keeping plant management and line supervisory team aware of ongoing efforts and “metric updates” to maintain high profile status of safety related activity
- Serve as a primary contact for internal and corporate audits and inspections; serve as assistant council to HR Team Lead surrounding OSHA standards
- Develop written procedures to ensure compliance to applicable OSHA standards
- Track OSHA 200 log, mailing determination of recordability
- Ensure plant compliance with state, local, OSHA, and corporate regulations.
- Assists with other activities as necessary to evaluate and reduce potential risks to employee health and well-being.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: Up to $85,000.00 per year
