The mission of the Office of the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Environment and Energy Resilience (E&ER) is to sustain warfighting readiness and lethality by providing environmental and energy-related policy and governance through programs aimed at environmental restoration, compliance, clean-up operational energy, installation energy resilience, climate change adaptation, and the development of energy and environmental technologies. The mission of the DoD Strategic Environmental Research and Development Program (SERDP) and the Environmental Security Technology Certification Program (ESTCP) is to demonstrate innovative, cost-effective, and sustainable solutions to meet DoD's environmental and installation energy challenges. A specific component of these Programs’ mission is assessing the vulnerability of the Department of Defense to the potential impacts from climate change at locations where it has permanent or enduring assets.

The Environmental Sustainability and Sea Level Rise Specialist will complete a variety of tasks in support of the Strategic Environmental Research and Development Program (SERDP) and Environmental Security Technology Certification Program (ESTCP) and will specifically manage the DoD Regionalized Sea Level (DRSL) tool.


General tasks for the position will include:

  • Providing technical support to DRSL users.
  • Serving as primary point of contact and support through to resolution including receiving user queries providing basic database assistance, giving guidance to users to resolve their issue and prevent recurrences, and interacting with management to facilitate timely problem resolution.
  • Documenting questions and issues as a source of research needs and topics for exploration on the Research-DRSL.
  • Assisting in the development of research and demonstration solicitation topics.
  • Supporting the proposal selection process by facilitating online reviews and review meetings.
  • Monitoring the financial and technical progress of funded research and demonstration projects.
  • Supporting a wide range of meetings, workshops, and conferences.
  • Developing outreach materials.
Qualifications:

Qualifications

  • BS in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Climate Science, Sustainability, or similar.
  • 0-2 years professional experience working in a field related to, natural resource management, sustainability, energy efficiency, energy security, environmental sciences, or climate resilience.
  • US citizenship

Desired:

  • Advanced degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Climate Science, Sustainability.
  • Experience with Department of Defense or military organizations.
  • Experience in research and development or demonstration and validation.
  • Experience in web-based application operation and maintenance

Salary at Noblis is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the combination of education, certifications, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, internal and external equity, location, and clearance level, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements and applicable employment laws. The projected compensation range for this position
is provided within the posting and are based on full time status. Part time staff receive a prorated salary based on regularly scheduled hours. The estimated minimum and maximum displayed represents the broadest range for this position (inclusive of high geographic and high clearance requirements), and is just one component of Noblis’ total compensation package for employees.
