Legacy Behavioral Health Services is hiring individuals with a passion for making a difference in their community! We are seeking an Environmental Tech to work in our Behavioral Health Crisis Center in Valdosta, Georgia. The role of the Environmental Tech is critical in the prevention of the spread of infection and meeting the environmental expectations of consumers, visitors, and stakeholders who come into the organization. The environmental tech maintains environmental and infection control standards within established guidelines, policies, and procedures. They perform a variety of general cleaning tasks to maintain patient areas, offices, hallways, and other assigned areas of the facility. In addition, those working in the inpatient setting also distribute and track clean linens to the appropriate area and maintain stock levels in patient care areas. The position follows standard practices and procedures and complies with regulatory requirements.

Work Environment: Using cleaning supplies and equipment are an essential part of the position, which is why housekeepers take a daily inventory as well as inspect their equipment for any repairs or replacements. Some of the cleaning supplies that they use are hazardous, so it is important that they be able to read product safety data sheets and understand from these safety sheets and in-services how to safely use these products for their own protection and that of the people around them. They also ensure that proper infection-control policies are being followed.
Occasionally, Environmental Technicians attend in-service training. Such meetings can include updates on organization policies, new equipment demonstrations and discussion of complaints made by patients or staff in-regards-to housekeeping.
Physical Demands: Must be able to be on feet, walking or standing, up to 90% of shift. Must possess a wide range of body mechanics involving bending, stooping, reaching, lifting (up to 60 lbs.) and pushing.

- A high school diploma or GED; Preferred
- Ability to comprehend a Safety Data Sheet.
