Scope: The Equitable Hiring and Recruitment Coordinator is part of the Equitable Hiring function of the People, Culture and Equity Department. This function consists of three people; the Recruitment Coordinator will play a critical role in supporting the function in moving the People, Culture and Equity department and Sierra Club organization towards more equitable hiring through posting jobs, communicating with internal staff and external candidates, providing logistical and systems support, and collaborating with teammates. The Equitable Hiring and Recruitment Coordinator will support sourcing candidates equitably through the execution of recruitment plans and building new relationships and creative tactics. The Coordinator will also assist the Equitable Hiring & Recruitment Strategy Lead with data and training content.
Job activities include but are not limited to:
- Develop and support job socialization. Support hiring managers with the job posting and technical issues surrounding their job requisitions. Collaborate with the PCE team to process job authorizations by posting positions on the national recruitment site and external recruitment resources, including social media accounts.
- Grow relationships and trust with hiring managers. Support hiring managers in the launch of a new hire by receiving and posting job descriptions that meet and are aligned with our posting recommendations. Upon request, assist hiring committees with recruitment tactics that support diversifying sources and candidates.
- Use an applicant tracking system. Understand and create content that supports a user friendly experience for clients using ATS. Provide user support to all ATS clients regarding use of features, functions and recruitment processes; assist with troubleshooting ATS issues for all users.
- Manage Careers Inbox Communication. Respond to external candidate inquiries, communicate with internal staff, and field requests to the appropriate departments. Use the career inbox to centralize the information shared from our team to provide clear next steps with individuals collaborating with our team.
The successful candidate must have the following skills and experience:
- High regard for holding sensitive and confidential information. The ability to show great judgment with sensitive information.
- Track record of strong networking and relationship building in a remote setting. Demonstrated success developing relationships across all levels- staff and managers- and identities, internally and externally. Comfortable in managing relationships remotely.
- Attentive to details around coordination and implementation of the Equitable Recruitment and Hiring Guidelines. The ability to manage time and competing projects to provide the best support to teams navigating hiring. Comfort with using and building project management tools to move the work forward.
- Curious, Inquisitive, Proactive. Being interested in how things work, being able to ask questions to learn more and make improvements and changes.
- Strong Communication. Understanding the need to communicate and collaborate with colleagues across the organization. Ability to craft and deliver information that centers people and is rooted in equity. Exhibit great listening skills to meet and exceed expectations around ask.
- Equity Analysis and Practice. You are aware of your group identities and how they have shaped your life and experiences at work. You have analyzed how racism and other forms of oppression in society impact relationships, systems and culture. You bring experience and skills for working effectively with colleagues across group identities and position/role.
The strongest candidates will also demonstrate the following experience, skills and competencies:
- Project management, multi-tasking and time management skills
- Familiarity with human resources policies and practices and is comfortable with organizational change
- Ability to manage expectations and prioritize tasks in order to get the best outcome
Compensation and Benefits
The salary range for this position is $62,500, non-negotiable.
The Sierra Club offers a competitive salary package commensurate with skills and experience plus excellent benefits that include medical, dental, and vision coverage, and a retirement savings 401(k) plan.
This is a category 6 non-exempt non-represented, confidential position.
