Report to: Preconstruction Group Manager

Job Description Overview

The Estimator is responsible for supporting the Project Management/Estimating Group in analyzing bid opportunities for each business sector, preparing estimates as needed, and performing initial bid reviews prior to bid close-out and submission. The Estimator will also support the Senior Estimator and Preconstruction Group Manager in managing and updating HCSS HeavyBid and HeavyJob software and its codebooks.

Responsibilities

• Assist in analyzing incoming bid opportunities to determine effort and worthiness of bid preparation.
• Support the Senior Estimator and Preconstruction Group Manager by performing initial bid reviews with the PM/Estimating team to prepare for bid close-out.
• Attend pre-bid meetings and project meetings to represent Kwest Group as directed by the Senior Estimator and Preconstruction Group Manager.
• Travel to Kwest offices and project sites in locations within the U.S. as needed to attend for training, assigned meetings, and conferences as requested.
• Perform all duties consistent with the Company Mission Statement and the Kwest Group philosophy.
• Maintain a positive attitude and good working relationships with customers, employees, and the public.
• Preparation of Bids as needed, including:
  • Review and understand all plans, specifications, addenda, and other bid documents required to complete an accurate bid and proposal.
  • Evaluate constructability issues during the proposal preparation process.
  • Procure subcontract and material quotes as well as perform a review of each for conformance with project specifications.
  • Prepare a summary of additional project requirements including the project schedule and milestones and review with the Chief Estimator or senior estimator prior to bid.
  • Communicate the equipment needs of the bid with the equipment department to procure rate information for evaluation by the estimating team
  • Set up bids in HCSS as directed
  • Assist Senior Estimator and Preconstruction Group Manager in pricing & final submission of bid documents.
  • Schedule and complete all duties with minimal direct supervision.
  • Represent the company in a professional manner in all instances.
• Assist in the preparation and execution of subcontractor and material procurement components as requested.
  • Attend in-house pre-job meeting to review the scope of the project with assigned Project Manager.
• If requested, attend a pre-job meeting with the owner as needed.
• Assist in the preparation of all documents including schedule, purchase orders, subcontracts, as requested.
• Travel is required to Kwest Group office locations as needed
  • Position to be based in Dublin, Ohio.
  • Periodic travel to Kwest Group regional offices will be required.
  • Overnight and some extended travel to perform estimating and Chief management assistance duties will be necessary.
  • Air travel will be required.

Authority

• To provide input on potential bid opportunities.
• To review and make recommendations for bid/cost and pricing adjustments to maintain accuracy and cost competitiveness.
