Edison Power Constructors, a Primoris Services Corporation company builds, maintains, and repairs electric transmission and distribution infrastructure.
We have an immediate opening for an Estimator for our Los Angeles, California.
Estimating, planning, developing pre-plans and schedules and assisting management of projects from project estimate through completion. Provide input to Project Team staff to ensure that safety, quality, environmental and business policies and procedures are followed; maintain project tracking through the Work Management System and complete projects in a timely and cost effective manner. Maintain customer relationships and interface with customer personnel for project meetings, training, and project issue identification and resolution.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Meet with customer for pre-bid discussions and site review.
- Performs a rake of work and material from customer supplied drawings.
- Determines measurable units of work.
- Estimates rates of production for units of work.
- Calculates cost budgets from available labor and equipment cost sheets for production units.
- Writes production unit codes with definition matrix.
- Identifies material needs for project receiving competitive pricing.
- Identifies the need for any subcontracting.
- Writes construction plan.
- Produces a project schedule.
- Produces project Communication plan.
- Writes cover letter with budget break down of customer’s budgets and submits to Project Manager for approval.
- Submits approved estimate package to customer for approval.
- Upon customer approval submits bid with units of work and budgets to Finance Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
- 4 year engineering degree or equivalent combinations technical training and/or experience.
- 2-5 years estimating, controls and/or engineering experience related to similar facility construction.
- Background with construction or similar industry required; experience with power transmission and distribution field preferred.
DESIRED CHARACTERISITICS:
- Ability to provide research/analytical support and preparation of related recommendations.
- Ability to prepare reports, forms, memos, presentation material and correspondence.
- ·Well-developed oral and written communication, interpersonal and organizational skills with the ability to multi-task.
- Ability to resolve problems/concerns and attend to details and time limits.
- Advanced knowledge of assigned discipline, estimating techniques and cost control.
- Ability to interpret computerized cost data and systems essential.
- Ability to operate with minimum supervision provided when estimating items on own

Compensation: $80,000 to $115,000/ year
