Job Summary
The Estimator (Electrical / Mechanical) at TMG will be assigned to our Contingent Staffing Program with the New York City School Construction Authority. They will report to the Sr. Project Manager. This individual will support the proposal and project teams, analyzing proposal requirements and developing estimates for all phases of construction related to various solicitations.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for reviewing construction estimates with supporting documentation, including contractor price proposals, drawings, technical specifications, vendor/subcontractor quotes, market analysis, and other related documents to determine if the proposed construction cost has been developed in line with all documentation, project location, schedule, and local labor conditions.
  • Assist the project team in contract negotiations, respond to requests for explanations of cost estimates, review contractor requests for equitable adjustment for validity and assist in claims support, and act as a resource for the project team in need of quick unit costs for reference by analyzing blueprints and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates.
  • Prepare estimates of all major and minor construction aspects including the overall scope of work, time, and materials for selecting vendors or subcontractors.
  • Confer with engineers, architects, owners, contractors, and subcontractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates.
  • Prepare estimates used by management for cost estimating and budget planning, scheduling work, and organizing.
  • Prepare cost and expenditure statements and other necessary documentation at regular intervals for the project's duration.
  • Assess the cost-effectiveness of products, projects, or services, tracking actual costs relative to bids as the project develops. Set up cost monitoring and reporting systems and procedures.
  • Take actions to deal with the results of delays, bad weather, or emergencies at the construction site. Inspect and review projects to monitor compliance with building and safety codes and other regulations.
  • Provide a dispute resolution concerning all aspects of the cost proposal, including quantity and unit price items.
  • Coordinate with Project Managers, Superintendents.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, and/or construction from an accredited college or university,
  • Eight (8) years’ experience in general construction estimating; five (5) years must have been in one of the estimating areas of architecture, electrical, mechanical or plumbing; the remaining three (3) years must have been in any combination of technical construction related areas; and/or Comparable combination of education and experience.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $80,000.00 - $115,000.00 per year
