The Andersons and ICM, Inc. have partnered together to create ELEMENT, LLC, a 70 million gallon-per-year biorefinery in Colwich, Kansas. The combination of ICM's next-generation technologies and The Andersons' merchandising, risk management, and logistics expertise has the potential to produce high-efficiency, low-carbon intensity ethanol. The plant is designed to be the most efficient dry mill ethanol plant in the U.S.
Position Overview
The Manager in Training role is designed to provide a hands-on-leadership experience at one of our ethanol fuel production plants. This training includes hands on rotations throughout each function where you will gain an understanding of how each function supports the overall production strategy of the plant, while also developing leadership skills.
Physical Requirements and Working Environment
Work is performed in a 24x7 Ethanol production facility. This position involves frequent exposure to adverse weather conditions, dirt, dust, fumes, noise, heights, and intermittent lifting of heavy objects. Must be willing and able to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required.
Key Responsibilities
  • Understand ethanol operations including but not limited to the functions associated with the production of ethanol fuel, associated co-products and the grain elevator co-product load out
  • Gain necessary knowledge and experience related to managing a diverse team, financial planning including annual budgeting, capital and labor planning to transition to a manager position within 12-24 months. Must be willing and able to relocate to one of our five production plants
  • Develop skills to advance operational performance and efficiencies necessary to meet and exceed production goals

  • Coordinates and supervises the daily activities of a business or technical support or production team
  • Sets priorities for the team to ensure task completion; coordinates work activities with other supervisors
  • Decisions are guided by policies, procedures and business plan, receives guidance and oversight from a manager
  • Typically, does not spend more than 20% of time performing the work supervised
Minimum Qualifications & Skills
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • 3-5 years’ relevant experience required
  • Relocation is required
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Flexible schedule to include nights and weekends
