Position Purpose/Summary: The events coordinator will be instrumental in supporting the planning, preparation, execution, and reporting of Visions-sponsored events and activities across all markets. They will also be highly involved with events at Visions-owned venues, specifically the Visions Federal Credit Union Headquarters Auditorium in Endwell, NY and Visions Amphitheatre in Ithaca, NY. Successful execution of events will help raise brand awareness of Visions locations in all markets and uphold Visions reputation of being a strong corporate citizen, supporter of all members of our communities, and building positive relationships across our three-state footprint.
Education & Experience: We pride ourselves in our advocacy for education, growth, and opportunity for experience at Visions Federal Credit Union. This position would minimally require an Associates degree (bachelor’s degree preferred) in public relations, hospitality management, event/wedding management, marketing, or related field, along with a minimum (2) years’ experience in event planning, preparation, execution, and follow up. Relevant certifications are encouraged but not required.
Essential Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: This position requires (and is not limited to):
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with adherence to deadlines, budgets, and competing and/or changing priorities
- Able to effectively collaborate and communicate across an organization, and with external partners/stakeholders.
- Experience in year-round event management of indoor and outdoor spaces
- Experience planning successful, diverse, events
- Familiar with event safety as it relates to working with local law enforcement, EMS, city/county government ordinances, zoning, permitting office, OSHA, and other applicable agencies
- Audio, visual, and digital technology expertise on a variety of platforms and systems
- Professional, polite, courteous, friendly, and capable of working with all ages, demographics, and social classes to positively communicate with diverse populations
- Experience in handling high pressure, potentially volatile, situations (people, venues, environment)
- Ability to lead teams of volunteers, colleagues, co-workers, and paid employees to staff events
- Ability to travel overnight, and drive throughout New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and early mornings; holidays (if necessary)
- Meticulous attention to detail
- Experience in maintaining and building enriching business relationships
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
