Experiential Therapist / Social Worker
6-24 hours/week

We provide specialized care to rescued farm animals, offer inclusive humane education programs for learners of all ages, and provide experiential therapy to ensure the Heartland community is accessible for everyone. How You Will Make a Difference:

As an Experiential Therapist, you will play an integral role by creating and facilitating exceptional experiences and sharing our mission of inspiring compassion for all beings. You will execute our experiential therapy sessions and ensure that Heartland Farm Sanctuary is a safe and welcoming space for all. Most importantly, you will be responsible for upholding Heartland’s value of providing inclusive and safe spaces for all. We serve children in the Madison and Dane County areas

The Experiential Therapist will be responsible for:

• Maintaining a caseload of therapy participants
• Creating treatment plans and keeping timely session notes for each participant
• Using appropriate evidenced based techniques formulated and tailored to the participant’s specified needs
• Communicating and collaborating extensively with Animal Care and Humane Education teams
• Coordinating care and collaborating on treatment goals with families, caregivers, and agency case managers
• Staying up to date with state laws and therapy compliance. Maintaining continuing education requirements
• Additional duties as assigned

Desirable Skills and Qualifications for the Experiential Therapist are:

• A strong commitment to the mission, vision and values of Heartland Farm Sanctuary
• Professional Child and Family Therapy, Recreational Therapy, and/or Social Work experience
• Active WI License in Social Work, Recreational Therapy, or Professional Therapy required
• Professional demeanor and strong interpersonal skills
• Outstanding organizational skills
• Sound judgment and discretion and ability to maintain confidentiality
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities
• Flexibility and willingness to grow with Heartland
• Independence, creativity, and proactivity are essential

• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Experience being around and/or working with various farm animals is a plus

Compensation: Starting wage: $23-$26/hour

Reports to: Therapeutic Program Manager

Bonuses: Unlimited goat and sheep snuggles, plenty of peaceful pasture time with the llamas, and witnessing hilarious antics from ALL our rescued animals.
