Fabrication Estimator Job at The Kelly Group
The Kelly Group is seeking an experienced Fabrication Estimator for its Lafayette, Indiana, location. Candidates should have a minimum of 1 to 3 years of estimating experience.
This position requires the ability to perform these essential duties:
- Estimate metal fabrication projects
- Develop clear, detailed project scopes for customers
- Maintain and develop relationships with both new and existing customers
- Conduct site visits and attend pre-bid meetings to understand the constructability of projects
- Understand plans and specifications to identify the types and grades of materials and equipment needed, and ensure compliance with project requirements
- Review specifications, contract terms and requirements
- Interface with management and shop supervisors
- Conduct pre-job meetings with foremen to review scope of work, manpower requirements, work sequence, special requirements and safety
- Monitor ongoing jobs for costs, profitability and schedule adherence
- Maintain detailed and orderly estimate and project files
- Maintain safety awareness
Other preferred qualifications sought include:
- Engineering degree (civil, mechanical or structural) preferred
- Construction experience and/or related education
- Supervisory skills
- Must be proficient multitasking and organizing activities to meet deadlines
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent attention to detail and good interpersonal skills
- Understanding of the technical requirements of the industry
- Hands-on knowledge of estimating software, scheduling software, cost distribution, common contracting procedures and practices
- Experience with Microsoft Office
- Must possess current valid driver's license and a driving record acceptable to company insurer
- Must be able to drive legally in any state in which driving may be required to conduct company business
