Faculty Positions in Aerospace Engineering Tenure Track Job at Florida Tech
The Department of Aerospace, Physics and Space Sciences at the Florida Institute of Technology invites applications for multiple full-time faculty positions in Aerospace Engineering with an expected start date of January or August 2022. The appointments will be tenure-track, and can be considered at either the Assistant or Associate Professor rank.

We are interested in candidates who are committed to teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels while conducting cutting edge, externally funded research in astronautical engineering including one or more of the following areas: spacecraft systems and design, autonomous multiagent systems, payloads and sensors, proliferated LEO, rocket or spacecraft propulsion, or space structures and materials, or other emerging areas. Candidates interested in teaching undergraduate capstone design courses and in supervising capstone design project are particularly sought. .Applicants shall demonstrate a strong research background and plans for externally funded research in one of these fields. Applicants shall demonstrate readiness and ability to teach undergraduate and graduate courses from among the following topics: spaceflight mechanics, space vehicle controls, space systems design, spacecraft payload and subsystems design. Candidates are required to hold a Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering or a closely related field.

The department has 32 faculty, over 550 undergraduate students, and more than 110 graduate students. We are at the heart of the vibrant aerospace community on the U.S. Space Coast and nestled in an area of outstanding natural beauty. Located at the birthplace of American space exploration, the Space Coast is experiencing dynamic economic growth in the aerospace industry, as exemplified by the high number of rocket launches. In addition to the NASA Kennedy Space Center, the Space Coast is home to Cape Canaveral Space Force Station and Patrick Space Force Base. The operational base for the Naval Ordnance Test Unit, the 45th Space Wing, and the 920th Rescue Wing are also located in Cape Canaveral. Aerospace companies in the area include Blue Origin, Boeing, Collins Aerospace, Embraer, SpaceX, L3 Harris, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, Sierra Nevada Corporation, and the United Launch Alliance.
