The Family Service Worker assesses family and home stability, develops, implements and manages case plans and procedures and coordinates appropriate education and support services to ensure compliance with requirements and promote successful, safe and healthy family units.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: This position requires a human services Associate Degree or equivalent

- Assist in developing, implementing and monitoring case plans with social workers, case managers, parents, family clients or community service providers;

- Make referrals and provide follow-up to ensure services are provided;
- Assist clients to increase parenting and home or money management skills;
- Guide client socialization skills development or restoration;
- Teach clients about health, safety and nutritional needs of their family;
- Implement plans to address identified child or adult safety issues;
- Assist in the formation and implementation of parent education or support resources;
- Coordinate services to assist in client care or further personal development;
- Facilitate parent education or support group participation;
- Provide transportation for adults and children as needed;
- Provide supervised visitation for clients in the child protection system;
- Assist clients in applying for safe and affordable housing;
- Conduct in-home assessments of family and home stability for day care licensure and in supervision of court ordered visitations;
- Document client compliance with case plans and/or court orders;
- May provide written and oral testimony in court; and
- Advise clients of rights and responsibilities under programs and services.
- Collaborate with foster parents, county attorneys, public defenders, health professionals, teachers, service organization personnel and staff from other counties;
- Develop, coordinate and deliver program information to the general public, special interest groups and professional organizations; and
- Promote child foster care recruitment.
Perform other duties as assigned.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Semi-sedentary involving office and outside field work. Lifting requirement may include lifting up to 50 pounds. Exposures may include but not be limited to disagreeable odors, communicable diseases, bodily fluids, and behavior challenges. Use of general office equipment to include telephone, cell phone, pager, personal computer, laptop computer, electronic recorder, calculator, etc. Additional physical/mental requirements that occur may not be listed above, but are inherent in performing the position's essential functions.
