Fiber Handler (Distribution Associate) Job at Sterlite Technologies Inc.

I. Purpose of Position

 To perform packaging, material handling, and related record keeping in support of the safe, efficient, cost effective, and timely receipt of incoming goods and shipments of products to satisfy customer requirements within the distribution team.

II. Requirements:

Education:  High School Diploma, or equivalent with demonstrated ability to read, write, and perform basic math functions including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages.

 Must achieve required hours of on-the-job training/peer training and achieve company benchmarks on physical skill test on equipment used and written process knowledge test(s) after completion of training.

Experience:  One to two years of experience in manufacturing or shipping and receiving.

 Basic computer input knowledge/ experience and barcoding system knowledge.

 Ability to read, comprehend, and utilize written instructions, facility documentation process, and customer specifications.

 Ability to communicate effectively in a work group/team environment with regards to all job requirements, functions, and duties.

 Must be able to utilize and safely operate hand tools (hammer, screwdriver, knives, work scissors, dikes, razors), nail gun, and torches.

 Must have the ability to become certified/ licensed as a forklift operator.

III. Primary Duties:

 Ensures a clean and safe work environment, through the use of 6S and Continuous Improvement initiatives.

 Perform inspection and packaging of fiber spools

 Performs cycle counts and physical inventory counts on a scheduled basis and maintains records to ensure that all held inventory is accurate.

 Prepare documentation related to fiber spools and production orders

 Pull Fiber Sets related to production documents, moves the product to the production floor and assists with empty spool return

 Consistently must meet Division safety and quality standards.

 May handle hazardous materials/waste in accordance with environmental/safety system.

 Required to adhere to all Division Policies, Procedures, Rules, and Regulation in effect now and or in the future.

IV. Physical Characteristics and Working Conditions:

 Heat, cold, humidity and rain exposure working often in outside environment

 Must always wear safety shoes and safety glasses

 Lifting (up to 100 Ibs.)

 Reaching and Stooping (up to 50 lbs.)
