With a strong focus on safety throughout, these growing businesses are proven experts in the manufacturing of  high purity metal products for a wide range of critical applications. The Strip Business Segment within SMP includes manufacturing plants in Wallingford, CT and Lancaster, PA.

The Finanical Accountant is accountable for various aspects of financial accounting,reporting and financial management of the Manufacturing Operations for the Strip Business Segment.

In addition to providing financial reporting, planning and analysis support for the site, this person will support the day to day process for AP, AR, CAPEX and cash management, and provide necessary coverage on processing transactions when needed. The position relies heavily on analytical abilities and experience to sort through data and prepares meaningful information to assist management with decision making, financial deliverables, and business performance metrics and reports. This individual will report to the Site Controller.

Job Responsiblities:

  • Assist with developing, maintaining, analyzing and reporting operating costs
  • Compile various monthly and quarterly key metric and periodic management reports
  • Fixed asset management, including capital budgets and spending, sale/scrap of equipment and tracking depreciation
  • Assist with various tax inquiries and reporting
  • Perform month-end financial close process including journal entries, account and intercompany reconciliations as well standard corporate reporting requirements
  • Maintain key account reconciliations and documentation to meet audit and SOX requirements
  • Provide support during physical inventory and or cycle counts
  • Deliver all required finance/accounting data accurately and on time.
  • Assist Company/External Auditors with annual/periodic audit activities
  • Interact with operations and support with labor analysis reporting, adhoc inventory reporting and variance analysis.
  • Assist with analysis of labor, material, and overhead costs against standard and budgets

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration required
  • 1 - 3 years of finance/accounting experience required
  • Manufacturing Experience preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to work productively with individuals at all levels inside and outside the organization
  • Demonstrated proficiency with customary PC office applications such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint required
  • Experience with an integrated Enterprise Resource Planning system or the equivalent preferred
  • Critical thinker with the ability and desire to be promotable
