Purpose

As a member of the Finance team, the Financial Analyst will collaborate with other members of the Finance team, Financial Controller, and the Leadership Team to conduct a wide range of analytical work. This includes building and presenting key operational performance metrics for various Hotel and F&B outlets to improve profitability, monitoring, analysis and reporting on Hotel and F&B performance and producing regular analytical reports and other ad hoc requests as requested to be used by Leadership Team and other internal departments. The Financial Analyst also assists in the preparation of operational reviews to help identify areas for improvement.

Essential functions

  • Support the Financial Controller and Leadership Team to manage the financial performance including strategic planning, budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting and analysis, and expense allocation management.
  • Assist with the preparation of forecast, month end, quarter end, budget, benchmarking, and ad hoc analytical and variance reports with commentary highlighting favorable and unfavorable performance.
  • Deliver the high-level financial reporting and analysis, internal control compliance, and business management; ensure this is done with both integrity and accuracy in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Recommend and assist in establishing policies, rules, internal controls, and safeguards.
  • Support the analysis and management of expenses, liaising with the appropriate finance partners & other stakeholders where appropriate and needed.
  • Provide recommendations to optimize ongoing performance and drive profitability.
  • Work with the business and/or other internal groups to provide financial support and analysis of proposed projects or initiatives, developing an understanding of business needs and long-term impacts of project decisions to highlight potential risk for management review.
  • Support return on investment analysis of projects & initiatives, ensuring the right financial approaches and resources are brought to bear.
  • Lead/support the development of business cases and/or develop fully documented, accurate cost and funding models for proposed projects.
  • Proactively engage in identifying opportunities for improvement, including automating manual processes, continuously strive for improvement of processes and efficiency and the development & enhancement of tools to manage and analyze forecasts and budgets.
  • Anticipate needs and respond to information requests from stakeholders in a timely manner.
  • Present and provide meaningful commentary to stakeholders on both past performance and future opportunities across all identified areas of responsibility.
  • Transform complex data into summarized meaningful and actionable insights.
  • Collaborate with IT and third-party consultants to ensure continuous operation and presentation of accurate data across various Finance BI products and provide support for BI systems and analytical tools users.
  • Collaborate with management on special projects or ad-hoc requests.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Bachelor’s degree in hospitality, business, accounting, or finance preferred
  • 3-5 years of data analytics, finance, accounting, or other relevant experience
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of the hospitality industry/hotel operations
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) with experience in financial modelling
  • Experience with business intelligence reporting platforms
  • Working knowledge of GAAP
  • Working knowledge of hotel PMS and POS systems a plus
  • Impeccable attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical, statistical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills are critical for success.
  • Ability to organize and interpret complex, detailed financial information and present analytical results in manner appropriate for Leadership Team decision-making
  • Ability to facilitate meetings with all levels of corporate stakeholders
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently, take initiative, and use good judgement
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, and work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet various deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Team player with strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
  • Highest level of integrity and transparency, and apply an ethical approach to influence the outcome of situations
  • Work in a safe, prudent, and organized manner

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: From $70,000.00 per year
