Position Summary
The role of the Finance Controller is to manage the organizations financial operations and provide direct supervision for revenue cycle and information technology personnel. This position is responsible for maintaining accurate accounting records that conform to all applicable HFHC policies and procedures, as well as following all State and Federal laws and regulations.
Education and Experience
§ High School Diploma (or equivalent) required
§ Minimum of 3 years in accounting or finance, preferably for a not-for-profit
§ Associates degree in finance, accounting or business required. Bachelor’s preferred.
§ Supervision experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
§ Strong knowledge of computers and other office equipment required
§ Strong Microsoft Office Suite skills required
§ Prior work with EHR software and other health care related software preferred
§ Knowledge/experience with computers equipment required
§ Knowledge and skills with basic office equipment
§ Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
§ Strong leadership skills
§ Knowledge of revenue cycles required
§ Detail oriented with strong analytical skills
§ Strong time management skills and the ability to prioritize and organize in a stressful and fast paced environment while also meeting deadlines
§ Ability to work well independently and as part of a team
§ Ability to maintain a positive working environment
§ Effective problem-solving skills, including research
§ Ability to train others
Essential Job Functions
· Contribute to processes improvement initiatives
· Attend staff and quality improvement meetings
· Provide back up for Payroll and Accounts Payable functions, including general ledger coding
· Maintain accurate financial statements
· Analyze financial statements to identify possible errors and/or areas for improvement
· Participate in developing budgets, both organization wide and grant/program specific
· Prepare financial reports and dashboards for leadership and the board of directors
· Assist in maintaining accurate policies and finance/accounting procedures
· Preform month end entries
· Maintain an accurate list of grants and contracts
· Track grant purchases and spending
· Track grant/contract reporting requirements and timelines for leadership to ensure all are completed and submitted timely
· Complete and submit reports for State, Federal and grants requirements
· Reconcile general ledger accounts monthly, quarterly, and annually
· Assist with requests from external auditors
· Maintain list of assets
· Submit quarterly and annual payroll tax documents
· Monitor internal controls
· Reconcile bank statements and monthly financial reports
· All other duties as assigned
Working Conditions/Physical Demands
· Normal medical office environment.
· Normally seated with freedom of movement on a regular basis, operating office machines and handling light materials and supplies in a typical office environment setting. May frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
· May spend extended periods operating desktop computer
· Frequent physical activity requires standing and walking.
· Periodic physical activity requires climbing stairs, bending, stooping, kneeling, and crouching.
· The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $50,000.00 - $58,000.00 per year
