Job Summary

The Financial Data Analyst will act as a conduit between finance and analytics/IT to ensure detailed data needs are gathered and communicated and deliverables are appropriately vetted and provided to finance in a timely manner.

The Financial Data Analyst will also assist with the financial reporting process by performing recurring and ad-hoc analysis to provide insight into the drivers of financial results and support recommendations relating to business planning, profit improvement and operational efficiency. In addition, this position will perform internal controls over financial reporting to ensure accuracy of financial statements and financial information utilized by internal and external parties.

The ideal candidate will be experienced in data analysis and financial systems administration and possess the following qualities:

  • A self-starter with the ability to multi-task and prioritize work assigned
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Develop comprehensive understanding of the data needs of finance, the structure of Donegal’s financial data within its various systems, and interface with technical experts to inform project specifications and requirements
  • Responsible for confirming data requirements and clarity of data deliverables for defined finance projects
  • Participate as needed in cross-functional initiatives and projects for the finance function including system implementations and continuous operational improvements
  • Work with finance and other supporting functions to define and execute financial systems strategy and implement new/enhance existing finance systems
  • Act as liaison between the finance function and analytics/IT to resolve application or other systems-related issues through completion
  • Design, develop and perform test cases, test scripts and validation processes based upon system requirements and functional specifications
  • Prepare, coordinate and assist with end-user training
  • Assist in administering security and operational maintenance of the OneStream environment
  • Assist with financial analyses to explain financial results and support the assessment of major strategic and operating decisions
  • Perform internal controls over financial reporting to ensure accuracy of financial information

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor's in Finance, Accounting and/or IT or related discipline
  • Knowledge of financial reporting and internal control requirements
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Interpersonal skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Microsoft Office proficiency required
  • Financial systems/data administration experience preferred
  • OneStream application experience a plus
  • Relevant experience working within the Property & Casualty insurance industry preferred
