The Galveston Fire Department is hiring!

The next Civil Service Entrance Exam is scheduled for Friday, February 24, 2023, at Moody Gardens Hotel in Expo A4located at 7 Hope Blvd., Galveston, TX 77554. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. and the exam will start promptly at 9:00 a.m.

Here’s the information you need to know to answer the call to serve your community today:

The Details:

Make sure that you meet the minimum requirements before registering:

o Must be 19 years of age and not have reached 36thbirthday prior to employment.

o Must possess a Basic Structural Fire Protection certification issued by the Texas Commission on Fire Protection.

o Must possess, at minimum, a current Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification issued by the Texas Department of State Health Services (TDSHS) for initial employment. If hired, the probationary Firefighter will be required, at their expense, to obtain a (TDSHS) AEMT, TCFP Fire Inspector, and a TCFP Driver Operator-Pumper within the first year of probation.

o Must possess a High School diploma or GED.

o Must be a U.S. Citizen.

o Must possess a valid Texas Driver’s License.

o Must be in good physical condition.

o Must have NO felony convictions.

o Registration is available online at https://www.galvestontx.gov/772/Upcoming-Civil-Service-Exam.

o Keep the following things in mind for the exam

o The exam will be held February 24, 2023 at 9:00 a.m. Moody Gardens Hotel in Expo A4 room located at 7 Hope Blvd., Galveston, TX 77554.

o Registered participants will need to arrive between 8:30 am and 9am to sign in. You will need to bring a copy of your photo ID.

o Candidates can plan for the test to take up to three hours.

o Those candidates who pass the test will be required to take a physical agility.

o After passing the exam and physical agility testing you will need to:

o Complete Application forms and provide necessary documentation.

o Participate in Interview Board Process.

o Participate in Interview with Fire Chief.

o Possess all applicable certifications and licenses required.

o Accept conditional job offer.

o Successfully complete pre-employment physical and drug testing test. Please bring appropriate attire.
