Since 1971, Hopelink has served homeless and low-income families, children, seniors and people with disabilities in the north and east King County, WA. With service centers in Redmond, Bellevue, Kirkland, Shoreline and Sno-Valley (Carnation), we are the largest nonprofit organization in the area. Hopelink programs and services focus on five key areas: food, financial assistance, housing & family development, adult education & employment and transportation/mobility. Programs are aimed at helping people achieve stability and helping them gain the skills and knowledge they need to exit poverty for good.

Summary: The Food Market Box Truck Driver operates loads and unloads a delivery truck, making pick-ups and deliveries of food, supplies, and other donated and purchased materials. The Food Driver performs picking and packing of food orders from the central warehouse including transfer of food among sites and interacts with volunteers. This role makes a difference in communities with populations with food insecurity and vulnerable populations. Also, lifts to 60 pounds throughout the workday; operates forklift, pallet jacks, and drives 24-foot box truck as needed.

Essential Functions:

(Note: Any one position may not include all of the functions nor do the listed functions include all tasks that may be found in positions of this class.)

  • Picks up food and other donations/purchases from community sources and delivers to food markets and centers; loads and unloads truck.
  • Helps picking and putting together orders for all five foodbanks.
  • Operates delivery vehicles according to safe driving practices and follows all traffic laws.
  • Lifts to 60 pounds using safe and effective loading and unloading techniques.
  • Completes necessary paperwork; assures accuracy of invoices.
  • Assures proper maintenance and cleanliness of vehicle. Responsible for fueling each truck.
  • Pick-ups and deliveries are made via loading docks and/or by use of vehicle lift gate.
  • Operates manual and electric pallet-jacks.
  • On occasion will cover food bank operations in absence of other staff
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

  • Regular attendance and punctuality are essential to our business and to this position.
  • Must be able to drive a Hopelink owned vehicle when needed. Driver Safety training will be provided.
Required Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or G.E.D. or equivalent experience.
  • 6 months or One - year experience driving a delivery truck or similar vehicle.
  • Three years of general driving experience.
  • Ability to lift 60 pounds regularly.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Pallet jack experience preferred.

Licenses, Certificates and other requirements:
  • Must have valid driver license; reliable personal transportation to adhere to attendance expectations.
  • Must pass criminal background check through the Washington State Patrol.
