JOB DETAILS:
- Starting Hourly Pay: $16.19
- Multiple pay increases over your first 2.5 years of service, with an end salary of $17.22 per hour for first shift employment. This does not include overtime opportunities or shift differential pay!
- Shift differential pay for 2nd and 3rd shift (additional $.60 per hour)

- Medical Coverage available the 1st of the month following start date
- Dental, vision, and basic life insurance premiums are free after completed eligibility period. Length of eligibility period is dependent on union representation.

The Ohio Veterans Home in Sandusky is a 427-bed nursing home facility. Two levels of care are offered: standard care for those veterans in need of any intermediate level of care, and special care for veterans with Memory Care needs.
The Home opened in 1888 to care for veterans of the Civil War and has been in continuous operation since. We pride ourselves in providing superior care to Ohio's veterans.

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Serves food to residents & employees; follows all food handling, food safety & food service sanitation practices; sets up dining areas for meal service; tears down dining areas after meal service; uses appropriate portion control utensils properly; adheres to all diet texture & special instructions (e.g., adaptive equipment tray setup) on resident meal tickets; uses thermometer to monitor & record food temperatures as instructed; delivers meal & snack items to nursing unit dining rooms &/or kitchenettes; portions foods into individual servings; covers, labels, dates & stores perishable items &/or leftover food items; collects & disposes of trash; cleans &/or prepares fruit, vegetables & other foods for cooking &/or serving; makes sandwiches, salads, desserts, dressings & beverages; grills, fries & toasts food; obtains, fulfills & serve food & drink orders in restaurant-style capacity
- Operates kitchen & cleaning equipment (e.g., grill, dishwasher, oven, floor mixer, coffee maker, service area, microwave, slicers, toaster, fryer, broiler, blender, steamer, oven, etc.) cleans work area (e.g., kitchen equipment & counters)
- Receives stock deliveries & properly secures all frozen, refrigerated & dry goods; retrieves stock items from storage; dates & rotates all stock; utilizes first in/first out stock rotation/usage method

Knowledge of food service procedures*; addition & subtraction of whole numbers. Skill in operation of kitchen equipment. Ability to carry out simple instructions; recognize safety warnings; read short sentences with concrete vocabulary; lift up to 50 lbs.; move limbs/fingers easily to perform manual functions repeatedly; stand, walk &/or bend continuously.
