• Monday-Friday 8:00am – 5:00pm (occasional evenings and weekends for urgent driver calls)
• Starting wage: $40,000/year + commission (negotiable based on experience)

Freight Dispatcher Job Description

You will schedule loads coming in and out of Helluva Container warehouses across the US. You will schedule our internal fleet of drivers and solicit 3rd party carriers.

You will use several applications and websites throughout the day, including Prophesy TMS, DAT Load board, SkyTrack, Drive Axle, Verizon Connect ELD, Truckstop, Microsoft Outlook.

Freight Dispatcher Dispatching:

• Plan, organize and assign loads.
• Develop and monitor routes and maintain contact with drivers.
• Communicate load status to warehouse managers, customers, vendors and drivers.
• Ensure all paperwork meets company and DOT regulations and procedures.
• Answer calls regarding scheduling issues. These calls may come in after hours.
• Maintain a high level of professionalism with drivers, customers and vendors.

Freight Dispatcher Logistics:

• Communicate with customers and vendors via phone, email, or in person.
• Dispatch, track and trace loads to ensure timely pick-up and delivery.
• Negotiate lowest rates possible.
• Assist in brokerage billing for carrier payments.
• Enter and update load data into various software programs.
• Verify carrier compliance for authority, insurance etc.
• Contact current and potential customers for new business opportunities. A commission plan is in place.
• Track and report shipment status.
• Negotiate contract and pricing agreements with carriers.
• Manage multiple deliveries, process spot requests and develop new sales strategies.

Freight Dispatcher Qualifications

• REQUIRED: Two plus years of dispatching/brokering experience.
• REQUIRED: Strong knowledge of US roadways and routes. Previous Class A OTR driving experience a plus.
• REQUIRED: Strong computer skills. Can learn new software programs quickly.
• Bringing a book of customers is preferred to help grow our business.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as you will need to keep multiple internal and external individuals updated.
• Attention to detail is required.
• Superior listening and problem resolution skills.
