Under the administrative direction of the Vice President of Administration, the Manager of Risk, Compliance, and Safety will lead college-wide initiatives in the areas of risk management, compliance, and campus safety to enhance a safe and respectful environment and support the mission of Nicolet College. The Manager serves as the primary authority for monitoring and coordinating College compliance; including the Clery Act, all related policy guidance, and other local, state, and federal laws, and regulations as assigned.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Continuously monitor applicable local, state, and federal laws, and regulations on issues related to College risk, compliance, and safety. Report legal changes and provide direction related to required actions, while serving as a knowledgeable resource for College executive leadership and employees. Manage loss prevention activities to include managing incident reports and ensuring appropriate distribution and corrective actions are completed. Work collaboratively on Worker’s Compensation administration. Work with appropriate team to provide training to students and employees on incident and crime prevention. Maintain College compliance with standards established by the EPA, DNR, ADA, OSHA, DSPS and other regulatory agencies. Ensure compliance standards for grants and partner programs. Complete all related reporting requirements. Review all safety policies and procedures, notices, alerts, bulletins, and appropriate training materials to assure compliance with all local, state, and federal laws.Conduct, document, and track campus audits and recommend preventative and corrective measures. Identify best practices and lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce work process risks, raise safety awareness, and improve safe work practices across the College. Follow up with affected teams to ensure that these measures are put in place and maintained. Monitor College environmental health and safety, including compliance with the hazardous waste regulations and infectious waste disposal guidelines. Promote the use of sustainable products and encourage recycling and reuse practices. Lead the Campus Assessment, Response, and Evaluation (CARE) Team, and other collaborative project teams and committees as necessary. Provide assistance to students, and employees in conflict resolution. Oversee the daily operations of campus security, supervising security positions.Carry and respond to emergency phone and after hour calls, as a member of the Emergency Response Team.Review and update the College Emergency Response Guide, Emergency and Business Continuity Plans. Serve as chair of the Safety and Security Committee and serve as a member of the Emergency Response Team to assess and respond to emergency situations. Consult with the executive leadership team in emergency situations. Conduct emergency drills, tabletop exercises, and operationalize application of the Emergency Response Plan.Develop and maintain partnerships with vendors, government entities, and external emergency service agencies including law enforcement, fire safety officials, emergency medical services, and healthcare professionals to assure an effective crisis management program. Serve as the point of contact for community emergency resources. Conduct periodic assessments, and suggest improvements as necessary, of College compliance with the Clery Act, as well as other applicable policies and laws. Work collaboratively to promote informed and consistent communication with all campus constituents about related policies and implementation.Prepare and disseminate the Annual Security Report for the College, as well as other mandatory compliance reports to external reporting bodies, and ensure that the College maintains processes and systems to provide accurate and comprehensive data to outside regulators.Develop, coordinate, and conduct appropriate annual training for risk, compliance, and safety, including Clery, for all students and employees, following up on non-compliance as needed. Update related online College resources as needed. Provide planning and budget input related to College risk, compliance, and safety. Actively participate and represent the College at state-wide risk, compliance, and safety meetings. Work with vendors, such as DMI, for compliance and continuous improvement.(List is not all-inclusive; other duties may be assigned.)
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in a related field.Minimum of three years of experience in risk, compliance, and/or safety. Minimum of two years’ experience in leading collaborative work groups and providing training.Experience in writing policies and procedures.Preferred Qualifications: Master’s Degree in a related field.Experience working in higher education, government, or large organizations.Experience researching and working with legal issues. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Working knowledge of student and legal issues facing colleges, and knowledge of applicable federal laws, regulations, and all related policy guidance.Knowledge of best practices and trends related to risk, compliance, and safety.Knowledge of external regulatory agencies and ability to implement and monitor administrative systems to ensure compliance with applicable laws, policies, and guidelines. Ability to think strategically, build and continuously improve effective programs, systems, and structures, and lead project teams to meet goals and objectives.Ability to build trust, work collaboratively, and effectively communicate orally and in writing with students, employees, and community partners.Ability to manage confidential and sensitive matters with tact and discretion.Ability to explain and enforce campus policies.Experience in conflict assessment and resolution, and leadership of sensitive investigations.Experience in development and delivery of training appropriate for different audiences (students, employees, board members) on a variety of subjects.
