John Knox Village East and Meyer Care Center is seeking a Full-Time ML1 to work NIGHT Shift on our assisted living. The ideal candidate must be able work rotating weekends. The ML1 assists the licensed nursing staff by performing routine nursing duties and activities of daily living. The qualified candidate must have successfully completed a State approved geriatric nursing assistant training program. Prior geriatric nursing aide experience is preferred. Essential Job Duties:

• Safely prepares, administers, and charts oral, topical, and suppository drugs. The medication aide who prepares the medicine administers same.
• Checks and prepares each dose immediately preceding administration.
• Follows administration protocol:

a. Checks medication with transcribed or original order.

b. Checks all information on label or package for accuracy and clarity.

c. Clearly identifies the resident with proper medication.

4. Assists residents with dressing, grooming, eating, bathing, positioning, turning, toileting and exercising.

• Gives treatments, performs tests, carries out procedures and collects specimens as instructed.
• Reports and records observations and results of treatments, tests, procedures and specimens when indicated.
• Transfers, transports and escorts residents as needed.
• Answers signal lights promptly.
• Changes bed linens, makes beds and keeps rooms clean and orderly.
• Assuring Resident Safety
• Order/destroy medication per protocol. (Keep Medication Room up to date)
• Communicate with family any changes or concerns with resident
• Assist NA in serving meals and cleanup of dining room.
• Notify physician for any changes or concerns with resident

Other Duties:

1. Maintains safe and sanitary work stations and equipment.

2. Encourages independence, attendance at activities, restorative programs and rehabilitation.

3. Attends in-service training and education session, as assigned.

4. Performs specific work duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.

5. Practice the 10 Extraordinary Impressions Hospitality Promises.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Successful completion of a State approved geriatric nursing assistant training program. Prior geriatric nursing aide experience is preferred. Registration with State registry required.
• Ability to understand and follow instructions in English, communicates effectively, and performs simple arithmetic. Ability to document care given.
