- Troubleshooting, diagnosing, modifying, fabricating, and repairing stationary production equipment, hydraulic systems, piping, and structures.
- Responsible for all tasks related to preventative maintenance programs, daily scheduled work, defect identification and elimination, and maintenance tactics and process improvements.
- Correctly repair and replace components and parts as needed.
- Lead the repairs of rotating equipment including pumps, agitators, elevators, conveyors, crushers, feeders, mills, etc.
- Ability to install/repair of various types of pipe
- Troubleshoot various mechanical equipment and piping systems to help determine the root cause of equipment failures
- Operate forklifts, man lifts, and other equipment as required
- Other duties as assigned
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred with applicable vocational technical training and/or experience in mining/heavy industrial equipment maintenance preferred.
- Must have the ability to read and write instructions, preform simple mathematical calculations, and keep records.
- Graduated from an applicable certified apprentice program or company approved mechanical training program.
- Willingness to work in adverse weather conditions required.
- Five (5) years of relevant service in industrial plant maintenance; or two (2) years of experience and successfully pass Level 5 of the NCCER industrial Maintenance Mechanics written and competence tests within 6 months of employment.
- Must have solid verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be an initiative-taker with the ability to work with others in a team environment.
- Must be able to work shift work, overtime, holidays, and weekends.
- Must be at least 18 years old and presently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
- Read and interpret blueprints and follow maintenance manuals and parts books to set up and perform tasks.
- Conduct all work activities in compliance with Federal and State coal mining laws and Company policies, procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Maintain production equipment at an acceptable availability and reliability to meet budgeted goals in safety, cost, productivity, and environmental commitments.
- 3-5 years of experience in oxygen/acetylene cutting and plasma cutting
- 3-5 years of MIG/TIG welding and electrode welding, pipe welding, fabrication
- 3-5 years of experience with conveyors and screens
- Identify hand tools, fasteners and equipment used in the trade and distinguish their applications
- Apply basic layout principles, blueprint reading, and master intermediate trade math
- Identify appropriate gaskets and O-rings according to their application
- Apply oxyfuel cutting techniques
- Use safe rigging practices
- Set baseplates and soleplates
- Properly use precision measuring tools
- Install packing and seals (including mechanical seals)
- Remove and install bearings and couplings
- Fabricate shims
- Pre-align and install equipment
- Install belt and chain drives, fans and blowers
- Identify conveyor parts and explain their functions
- Distinguish types of alignment (conventional, laser and reverse) and identify the steps that must be taken for each
- Identify types of pumps common to the millwright trade, and distinguish their application, troubleshooting and repairing procedures
- Identify types of compressors and their maintenance procedures
- Troubleshoot and repair gearboxes
