Gallery Assistant Job at Key West Art Center & Gallery
The Key West Art Center & Gallery is the oldest gallery in Key West, and has been operating at our 301 Front Street location since 1960. We represent over 45 local artists from the Florida Keys, and provide a year round sales resource for emerging and established creatives.
Gallery Assistants will greet customers and give info on the Art Center and our exhbiting artists. They will be responsible for sales, phone traffic, writing up sales receipts, and packaging art that sells for carry or shipping. Gallery assistants ensure that the gallery is clean by monitoring and doing light housekeeping duties such as dusting and sweeping, as needed. They are also responsible for keeping artwork safe while the gallery is open.
The gallery assistants will staff the front desk at the Art Center and work with customers and member artists. Assistants should be personable, knowledgable about artists (or willing to learn), and have the ability to remember names and faces. They promote current and upcoming exhibits, and help uphold our member/gallery rules and standards.
We are looking for the right one or two individuals to work 1-2 days per week. Training provided. Gallery experience is preferred but not required. Pay starts at $14/hour but there is room for the right person to advance. Flexible scheduling, great networking opportunity.
