Inferno Escape Room is one of the top-rated and fastest-growing Escape Rooms in Tempe. We are about to open our 4th game with two more coming next year and are looking to hire a part-time game master. This position will be weekends only with Saturdays a requirement. We are also looking for someone that can work the last three weeks of the year as these are our busiest weeks. This position is perfect for someone that is in school. Those with open availability will receive more hours.

Your job as a game master is to greet customers as they walk in the door, watch over them and give hints and clues as they play games, and make sure they are having a good time. This will require some acting and role-playing.

This is a very fun and exciting job for someone who wants to work in a great environment.

Job Tasks:

• Greet customers, answer questions, and explain game rules
• Roleplay based on the theme of the game
• Watch customers using monitors and audio to follow gameplay to assist with questions, clues, or any game failures
• Monitor and address players that break rules or destroy property
• Answer phone calls or texts and complete bookings for customers
• Take payments for bookings
• Upsell customers on other game experiences
• Reset games for the next players
• General cleaning of floors, bathrooms, game rooms, and trash
• Be able to modify gameplay in the event of puzzle failures
• Complete minor repairs that may include screwdrivers, hammers, or glue

Requirements:

• The ability to show up to work on time

• Some availability during the week, either assigned or on-call shifts

Pay:

Base Pay starts at $13.00 per hour plus tips

Eligible for raise after 60 days

Bonus Pay:

There are bonus pay programs to reward employees for upselling products as well as encouraging reviews. There is no limit, so employees can end up making $15-$30 per hour based on their selling skills.

• Saturdays are our busiest days. You will be scheduled every Saturday 10-12 hours. Will this be an issue?
• There is not a guaranteed amount of hours per week. We do experience slow times and staffing is adjusted when no games are booked. We tend to get busier as we get closer to the holidays. After the holidays, there may be a bit of a slow down. Other times, we may need extra staff due to large corporate groups during the week. Do you have any issues with this unstable work schedule?
• A majority of this job is performed in a monitor room watching and listening to players through the cameras. You will be working in tight quarters. Because of this, we not hire any employees who smoke cigarettes or marijuana or anything else that smells due to the sensitivity of those smells by current staff. Please confirm you do not smoke.
• Do you have any issues with confrontation of guests? Occasionally players may come in under the influence of drugs or alcohol and will not be allowed to play and be asked to leave. Other times, players may be destructive in our rooms with our props and you may have to ask them to stop or to leave. Do you feel comfortable making those confrontations in those situations?
• Repairs to props caused by abuse or repeated use is quite common. This may involve replacing with a back-up prop, gluing something back together, touching up something with paint, or screwing something back into a wall. Can you describe the most complicated type of repair you have done ?
• The job starts at $13 an hour, but you are awarded bonuses for selling second games or gift cards and for google reviews. Tips from players are also quite common and can range from $2-$50 depending on the size of the group. Game Masters can take control of their paycheck based on their hard work and selling skills. It is not uncommon for Game Masters to double their paycheck with tips and bonuses if they work hard. Is this pay format acceptable?
