Our greatest asset has been, and will continue to be, our people. We are looking for an experienced and motivated individual to fill the position of Unconventional Geologist within our U.S. Onshore Resources & Carbon Management, Midland group based in Houston, Texas.

Since the foundation of our business is a solid understanding of subsurface geology, geologists are critical members of our subsurface teams. The primary objectives for this position will be to identify new drilling opportunities and support the implementation of our development plans. Our geologists apply their skills and use state of the art tools to map and describe prospects, evaluate reservoirs, participate in volumetric and reserves estimations, and provide geosciences support to a fast-paced drilling program.

Required Qualifications

• Master’s degree in geology or related field of study
• 5+ years of experience on a multidisciplinary team
• Proven record of contributing effectively and creatively as an individual and as a member of a multidisciplinary team
• Proficient in drilling, completing, and reworking well operations
• Proficient in Subsurface Mapping, Sequence Stratigraphy, Mechanical stratigraphy
• Facility with Integrating Multiple, limited Datasets into regional interpretations
• Skilled mentor for less experienced geoscientists and team members
• Experience prioritizing and coordinating reservoir geologic data acquisition (logs, cores, fluid samples, studies)
• Experience in 3D geological modeling
• Experience estimating and refining volumetrics and recoverable reserves
• Excellent collaboration skills with practice working in a multidisciplinary team environment
• Excellent communication skills (verbal & written)

Additional Desired Qualifications

• Experience working in the Permian Basin
• Experience in unconventional resource plays
• Skilled in source rock analysis
• Proficient in reservoir description/core data analysis
• Experience planning special core analysis studies (XRD, thin section, sieve) and overseeing outside laboratory work
• Proficient in Petrel or Landmark/OpenWorks
• Proficient in petrophysical analysis
• Experience with probabilistic workflow analysis
• Life-long learner with an appetite for risk
• Creative thinker, willing to challenge paradigms
• Facility with Spanish a plus
